HBO's 'Luck'

Another Horse Dies on Set

3/14/2012 2:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0313_luck_exd
There has been another fatal horse accident on the set of the HBO series "Luck" -- a third horse has died, TMZ has learned.

We're told the crew was trying to get a horse out of its stable when it reared and fell back, suffering a head injury.  The horse was euthanized at the Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia.

This is the third time a horse had to be euthanized during the filming of the series, starring Dustin Hoffman.

HBO was scrambling after TMZ called 2 hours ago with the story, and the publicist, Karen Jones, stalled us while they got their story together.  In fact, when we told her about our story, she said it wasn't all true -- but it was.

stalled, upset, then died. Taking care of our relationships with animals needs more than luck.

A properly controlled horse rarely rears up in a stall and gets a head injury, horses have pretty damn hard skulls and most stalls are wood. Not buying it.. Three! Shut 'em down, someone is cutting corners as far as handlers or properly trained horses goes.

The horses overheard that the show sucked and was being cancelled. Instead of being sent to the glue factory...they're committing suicide.

Why are so many horses dead? Something isn't right.

Maybe they should just use animation instead of real horses to avoid the issues with the public. I'll bet a lot of horses were killed during the filming of cowboy westerns, but that was before TMZ was there to give us the latest poop on the horses.

Yes Interested (#8), many were inured and killed during old westerns and other films.. that is why we have animal protection LAWS now when it comes to animals used in movies... so stupid when someone tries to make less of an issue just because of how things 'used to be'.

Horrible. I won't watch. It's a shame b/c usually anything w/ DH is great. Once is an accident, 3 is ridiculous. They aren't using 1920s film techniques. Come on!

They need to shut this filming down, someone does not know how to handle horses appropriately.

Horses are not endangered species, my dad owns plenty of horses, we even breed some.
Just because some die doesnt mean people shouldn't buy horses for movies from us breeders.
Horses like attention they gain from horce racing and movies. They would die happily knowing even they turned into burgers for their master.

LOL, horses just don't fall on their heads... that only happens when animals are overworked for TV, and are cared by untrained professionals.

It isnt about a properly controlled horse - its about PROPERLY caring for and understanding horses are prey animals and whomever is handling them doesnt understand how to handle a horse!! Idiots - I am boycotting this show.
