Jason Kidd

Carried Out of Club

Before DWI Arrest

7/15/2012 1:38 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0715_escorted_wm_arrowMultiple witnesses tell TMZ ... NBA star Jason Kidd appeared to be so drunk in the moments leading up to his DWI arrest ... that he had to be carried out of the club he spent the night partying at.

TMZ has obtained a photo of the all-star point guard being carried out of a club called SL East. Multiple witness tell TMZ that Kidd appeared "incredibly drunk" -- so much so that at one point he tried to hang from a club light and broke it.

According to the multiple witnesses, after being carried out by a few friends, Kidd got in his car to drive off ... despite protests from his friends. Kidd left the club around 1:00 AM and crashed his car less than an hour later.

Earlier in the evening, Kidd tweeted a photo of himself (wearing the same gray shirt as in the photo above) alongside George Lucas at a charity event.

Kidd's attorney, Ed Burke Jr., tells TMZ, "Jason was involved in a single vehicle accident on his way back home from a charity function last night. He suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital. Jason has pleaded not guilty to a DWI charge and awaits further court proceedings."

"Kidd got in his car to drive off ... despite protests from his friends."

A little bit of Journalistic licensing isn't it? Apparently you had to make your deadline. Because FRIENDS don't let FRIENDS drive DRUNK by any means. Hopefully, Kidd will identify some real FRIENDS the next time he wants to go out and become publicly inebriated.

I know this isn't nice to say, but I kind of wish he was hurt. I'm so sick of people driving drunk, putting others' lives in harm's way. Maybe if a person was injured when they crashed into a pole they would think about their actions.

With friends like his, who pays them?

Instead of pleading with him friends would've taken his keys.

So they carried him out, gave him his car, and said good luck?

Even George Lucas is looking into the camera like dang this guy is waisted.

Looks like he does not have many true friends if they did not take his keys and drive him home.

This is not a good beginning with the Knicks. I have a feeling the law has not seen the last of this guy.

What kind of "friends" let a guy drive home drunk? Even if he was having a fit about it, call a cab for him!!

Yes, dumbass shouldn't have even had his car with him if he knew he would be drinking, but....it's time 'friends' are held responsible for allowing him to get in his car. What? you couldn't take the keys away from someone you had to 'carry' out of that club?? The new strategy to fight this crime is to hold so-called sober friends accountable for someone who is chemically out of their mind and allow them to get in their car. A few arrests and jail sentences and fines and see how 'blind' people will be to this in the future.

If any club employees helped him out they should be fined by whomever licenses alcohol establishments.

He can't even walk to his car, but the people there (friends or employees) let him drive it. SMH!
