Thomas Gibson

DUI Arrest Video

'STOP RESISTING'

EXCLUSIVE

It took 5 fully-grown police officers to wrestle "Dharma & Greg" star Thomas Gibson to the ground during his DUI bust in L.A. this weekend ... and TMZ has the crazy arrest video.

We broke the story ... cops believe an intoxicated Gibson tried to drive his Audi SUV through a part of downtown L.A. that had been sectioned off for a nighttime half-marathon around 1 AM on Sunday morning.

The footage begins with Gibson standing next to his car speaking with police ... when a bike cop arrives to the scene and screams for the actor to, "Get on the ground, NOW!"

At that point, all of the officers on scene rush toward Gibson and manhandle him to the ground as he yells, "Why?! Why!?"

While Gibson is on the ground, he can be heard telling the cops, "I am NOT resisting ... I am NOT resisting!"

After Gibson is successfully placed in cuffs, the cops help him up and escort him away from his vehicle.

Gibson was eventually taken to a nearby station where he was booked for DUI -- and was released later that day on $15,000 bail.

WTF

I really don't see why Gibson should have been told to get on the ground and then forced to the pavement. Who wants to get on nasty pavement that has God knows what on it. What I do see is cops being jerks, as is very common, when they really don't need to. How often have we heard cops say "stop resisting" when it's an obvious cover to smash some guys face into the pavement or break his arm?

I wonder if that crowd in the background might have triggered this bicycle cop...he's awful hyper and everyone else seemed calm. maybe he thought that crowd was going to start something.

This whole thing is pathetic, him with his DUI, the cops for whatever the hell that was, TMZ for the article and the quality of the video.

So they guy getting arrested did nothing to warrant some little ***** on a bike, yet they take him down like he's off the rails? They should be doing that to Blowhan, not this guy. Oh and again, cop on a bike = *****!

In the US today, just asking 'why' of a cop invokes their pack/hunt mentality. Then they make up BS about resisting arrest, get their stories straight (sometimes) and over-charge. Okay, charge him with DUI and let the courts work it out, but the rest of it is gonna be dropped in a country minute.

I keep hearing a female bike cop! Is everyone else hearing male or just assuming the bike cop was male? Poor Thomas, I don't like drunk driving but they acted like he was physically resisting arrest or something. Sheesh!

Jumping him was so unnecessary. There wasn't any sign of physical resistance or loud obnoxious threatening behavior.
But there was a TV personality involved. That's got to have some bragging rights back at the office. "yup yup. had to take him to the ground. I was the one who grabbed his lapel. Joe grabbed his cuff. It was a legit collar. Frank had that part."
