Don Pardo

Missed 'SNL' Gig

After Suffering Broken Hip

3/3/2013 10:54 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

0303-don-pardo-gettyDon Pardo was conspicuously absent from the opening credits of "Saturday Night Live" last night ... and TMZ has learned it's because he recently suffered a broken hip.

"SNL" fans immediately noticed the voice that announced the cast last was NOT that of Pardo's ... despite the poor attempt at an impression.

But rest assured, Pardo is ok ... our sources say he is recovering from a broken hip and doing just fine.

Pardo has been doing "Saturday Night Live" since the show first premiered in 1975, missing only one season along the way.

With SNL it's always the same:you watch a season thinking this is the worst but the next season proves that show is on one long decline. Tiny Fey leaving was their funeral bell.

Don Pardo is not allowed to get hurt.
Don Pardo must be the voice of SNL if it goes for 75 years.

It's not the first time he's been absent, it just sounds like it the past when he's been out in later years the would have Darrell Hammond do the intro in Pardo's voice (cited in the book "Live From New York"), and no one knew the difference.
