'Glee' Star Cory Monteith

Found Dead

in Vancouver

breaking news

Cory Monteith -- who famously played Finn Hudson on the TV show "Glee" -- died early Saturday morning in Vancouver ... he was 31 years old.

According to police in Vancouver the actor was found dead in his hotel room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel around noon ... when staffers went to check on him after the actor missed his check-out time.

In a press conference, officials said the actor was "clearly deceased" -- and had been so for several hours -- when police arrived on the scene.

Cops say Cory checked-in to the Fairmont on July 6th and was scheduled to leave July 13th. It is unclear why he was in Vancouver, but cops did mention he's from Canada and visits often.

The night before his death, Cory was seen in his room hanging with friends, before hitting the town ... but came back early Saturday morning ... alone.

Cops say "it was not immediately apparent" what caused his death, but no foul play is suspected. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

A rep for the actor says they are "in shock and mourning this tragic loss."

As TMZ previously reported, Monteith voluntarily checked himself into a treatment center back in April, admitting he had substance abuse issues.  It was his second time in treatment.

Prior to that, Cory had been open about his problems with drugs. Back in 2011 he told Parade Magazine, his family and friends were so afraid he "could die" they staged an intervention. He was 19 at the time.

He explained that his drug use consisted of "Anything and everything, as much as possible." Adding, "I had a serious problem."

This is very sad. Condolences to his family. With that said, mark my words, some doctor probably prescribed some sedatives to "get over" the hard stuff. He probably had a few drinks and went back and took a few pills and died. Happens all the time. I blame the dam doctors.

White kid problems, Ha! As a white guy who hasn't had a father for 25 years and never touched a drug, I have very little sympathy. Sick of white kids turning to drugs over any little minor problem in their life. Get over it! It's just an excuse so they can party hard! There are people out there sucking on rocks that would write SMH if the could. Throwing your over privileged life away because you are selfish and like to partaaay to much? What a crock!

Did he not have to pee in a cup for a drug and alcohol test when he applied for his job?

From Dlisted's Michael K. "And tonight just keeps getting more fvcked up. Just a few months after checking into rehab for substance abuse, Cory Monteith, who played Finn on Glee, was found dead in Vancouver. Cory was only 31.

I read over hour ago on Twitter that Cory died and I thought it was one of those hoaxes, but then the Vancouver PD held a press conference and confirmed he was found dead in a room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel around noon today. USA Today says that Cory checked in on July 6th and he was supposed to check out today. When he didn’t, the hotel staff checked on him and found him already dead. The police say that he went out with friends last night and came back to his hotel room by himself early this morning. It’s been reported, but not confirmed, that he died of a drug overdose. There will be an autopsy on Monday. Cory’s publicist released this statement:

“We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.”

Where is there to say? This is a whole lot of WTF and a lot of sad.

Rest in peace, Cory."

That's really too bad.

Take this as a lesson, kids. Don't start drugs in the 1st place. It's one of those choices that you can't turn back from, and you simply don't know how your body is going to react. This isn't how anyone wants it to end.

Back in 2011 he told Parade Magazine, his family and friends were so afraid he "could die" they staged an intervention. He was 19 at the time.

How did he go from age 19 to 31 in just 2 short years?

Yet the "untalented", continue on, because they are harder, tougher, more sav vy~ gentle souls, perish.
The tough and undeserving, survive.

Yet another victim of drug abuse (most likely). The fact that he's been in rehab twice is a good indication of what caused his death. It's very unfortunate that a good looking, had everything going for him kind of guy would fall victim to drugs. Here's a lesson for all of you that might think you have a problem-get help and stay clean.
