Stephen King Sued You Took My Gunslinger to 'The Dark Tower' That'll Cost Ya $500 Mil!!

3/28/2017 6:31 PM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

0328-stephen-king-the-dark-tower-TMZ-01Stephen King stole the idea for his main man in "The Dark Tower" series from a famous comic book character also known as a gunslinger ... according to a new suit.

The creator of "The Rook" comics claims King's protagonist, Roland Deschain, is based on his main character, Restin Dane. He says Deschain has striking similarities to Dane other than just their initials -- both are "time-traveling, monster-fighting, quasi-immortal, romantic adventure heroes."

"The Rook" creator also points out King's Deschain dresses like a cowboy despite not being from the Old West -- just like Restin Dane -- and the towers in both books look the same.

According to the docs ... the Restin Dane character was in more than 5 million comic magazines from 1977-1983 and King admits he read those stories. The first book in King's 'Dark Tower' series was released in 1982.

Translation -- "The Rook" creator thinks it's more than just a coincidence Roland is a lot like Restin, and he wants the King of Horror to fork over $500 million for ripping him off.

The lawsuit is impeccably timed ... teaser footage from the upcoming "Dark Tower" movie, starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, was just released this week.

Richard Simmons 'Sighting' Sets Off Alarms in the O.C.

3/28/2017 4:12 PM PDT

Richard Simmons? We started getting calls and video of a guy, who sure looks like the former fitness guru at a 24 Hour Fitness in Orange County, CA, but Simmons' rep insists ... it's not him.

This video is being shopped to media outlets as the first sighting of Richard in years. It's become a thing ... blogs devoted to finding the reclusive celeb.

The gym is an hour from Richard's Hollywood Hills home, where he's been self-confined for 3 years. It would be super weird for Richard to venture out that far.

This guy must get stopped a lot.

'Fresh Prince' Reunion Cast Came Together for Their 'Hilary'

EXCLUSIVE

Will Smith and the rest of the 'Fresh Prince' cast didn't just reunite to chat about old times, they did it to raise big money for charity ... TMZ has learned.

Karyn Parsons, aka 'Hilary,' tells us the luncheon -- with Tatiana Ali, Alfonso Ribeiro, Will, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Joseph Marcell -- went down Monday at Nobu in Malibu. Karyn says her castmates broke bread with a family from England that won a charity auction.

She says the money will support her organization, Sweet Blackberry, ... which makes educational animated shorts about African-American history. Karyn wouldn't say how much the Brits dropped for the all-star meal, but let's face it any meal at Nobu -- WITH Will Smith -- can't come cheap.

She added it was bittersweet because of the absence of James Avery, who died in 2013.

Pretty cool of the whole gang to donate their time.

'American Idol' Bidding War Between FOX & NBC

3/28/2017 10:19 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

0328-american-idol-getty-01NBC and FOX are going full bore against each other to bring "American Idol" back.

We're told both networks have submitted bids to FremantleMedia -- which owns the show -- and a decision could come as early as this week.

Multiple sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... NBC wants the show in part to resolve a problem with "The Voice." We're told the network doesn't want to oversaturate the market with the show, which airs twice a year. We're also told Adam Levine only wants to do 1 cycle a year.

If NBC gets 'Idol,' it would rotate 'A.I.' with "The Voice" and each would air once a year.

We're also told NBC has Ryan Seacrest as the favored host the second time around, and FOX would also entertain bringing Ryan back.

Our sources say the target date for bringing 'Idol' back is either Summer 2018 or mid-season 2019.

FOX never gave up on the show ... it just became way too expensive to produce with the talent costs ... Ryan, J Lo, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. The reboot, we're told, would have a new panel of judges.

Chance The Rapper Most Creative Intern Applicant?

3/28/2017 12:46 PM PDT

0328-chance-the-rapper-tmz-01The hustle is real for Chance the Rapper's open position for an intern, with one applicant going so far as to create a resume that reads like he's going on tour with Chance.

The Chicago MC put a job posting on Twitter saying he needed someone who could help write biz proposals. One applicant named Hospey responded by building a website called, "Hospey Presents: The Cover Letter Tour." Instead of tour dates it lists his work history, including the first time he saw Chance live.

Hospey also wrote an essay about that one time he traveled 15 hours to see Chance, and compared his work experience to his potential boss, saying ... "Similar to the ideologies of Chance the Rapper, my venture has stayed 100% independent."

A little ass kissing can go a long way.

Drake Nothing Personal, Amsterdam ... I Ate Bad Sushi!!

3/28/2017 10:47 AM PDT
Exclusive Details

0327_drake_amsterdam_sick_composite-2Drake had no choice but to cancel his Amsterdam concert because he had a prior engagement ... with a bathroom, due to extreme food poisoning.

Sources close to Drizzy tell us he ate some bad sushi on Monday, and it messed up his stomach. We're told it was so bad he had to get medical treatment immediately. It wasn't enough though ... he was still too sick to go onstage, which seriously pissed off the entire arena full of fans who'd already been waiting in their seats for 75 minutes when they got the bad news.

It was the third time in 3 months Drake had to postpone an Amsterdam gig ... which explains why fans threw crap onstage. He's promised to make up the show Wednesday.

We suggest a simple bowl of rice beforehand.

Floyd Mayweather Selling Rare Multi-Mil $ Hypercar

Exclusive Details

0328-floyd-mayweather-supercar-2015-sub-01

Floyd Mayweather is selling one of the most rare and expensive cars in his collection -- his Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita -- one of only 2 in the world.

Floyd's car guy, Obi Okeke, tells TMZ Sports Mayweather is selling the car to replenish his multi-million dollar car collection. We're told FM also plans to purchase a $20 million yacht, 'cause ... why not?

0328-nfloyd-mayweather-car-for-saleMayweather bought the insane car -- which has 1018 horsepower, top speed of over 254 MPH, and 0 to 60 time of 2.8 seconds -- for $4.8 million in 2015.

The whip is currently being stored in L.A. while a stupidly rich buyer is found.

Donald Trump Yeah, I Can't Be Sued Right Now I Got a Country to Run!

3/28/2017 1:37 PM PDT
Breaking News

0328-donald-trump-summer-zervos-TMZ-GETTY-01Donald Trump doesn't think he'll have time to deal with civil lawsuits while he's running the USA ... and he's asking a judge to agree with him.

Trump's lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, filed court docs this week in New York, arguing Summer Zervos' defamation lawsuit against President Trump should be tossed, for now, since it'd distract him from his public duties ... and hurt the country as a result.

Kasowitz claims the U.S. constitution's supremacy clause backs up his rationale that a sitting president can't be sued in state court while in office. He also says the Supreme Court left this specific issue undecided when they ruled against Bill Clinton in the '90s.

Although SCOTUS firmly decided a president was not immune from private litigation while in office, Kasowitz claims it did not address dismissing a case based on the likelihood to distract the president before it begins.

As we reported ... Zervos is suing Trump for allegedly ruining her good name by calling her a liar for her sexual assault claims. Her lawyer, Gloria Allred, said Tuesday "no man is above the law and that includes the president of United States."

Kasowitz says he'll soon be filing a motion to dismiss the suit.

Kristin Cavallari Jay Butt-ler ... Buns Out In Mexico

3/28/2017 11:16 AM PDT

0328-kristin-cavalari-jay-cutler-butt-instagram-01

Here's Jay Cutler's naked ass right in your face ... courtesy of his wife, Kristin Cavallari, who gave us a view of the QB's backfield while the two vacation in Mexico.

Jay is currently jobless, but it doesn't seem to be getting in the way of his off-season travels (or his squats, not bad dude).

Cavallari tagged Tony Scheffler -- a former NFL player -- in the pic, and we're not sure why.

One thing we do know ... Jay needs to get all the sun he can.
