Ed Werder Accuses SI Writer of Sexism ... Against Men

6/18/2018 8:43 AM PDT
Breaking News

Ex-ESPN reporter Ed Werder is calling out a Sports Illustrated writer -- claiming her hiring practices are completely unfair ... because she's discriminating against MEN.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Here's the deal ... SI tweeted out an ad looking for an entry-level news writer -- which was retweeted by SI senior writer Charlotte Wilder, who added the following caption:

"If you can stand sitting near me in the office this is a v cool opportunity. Especially if you're a woman trying to get into sports, you should message me — DMs are open."

Werder had a big problem with Wilder's post ... saying, "So men need not apply? Any others ineligible?"

Wilder responded, "Oh WOW you're right, Ed, sorry for attempting to make sports media more than 10% female, my bad."

Werder: "I just always associated SI with hiring the best regardless of race, sex and other factors."

The conversation went on. Someone later asked Ed why he was so upset. He responded:

"Because next week I’m going to be standing in front of a broadcasting class of young people and some will be males and I have to tell them they have the same chance at jobs like those one as all others."

Before you get upset ... one of Ed's former ESPN colleague, Mina Kimes -- a senior writer at ESPN The Magazine -- chimed in and basically spelled it out for him.

"Encouraging women to apply for a position isn't the same thing as 'excluding' men. it's helping female applicants network, which can be a challenge given the massive gender imbalance in our industry (which I'm sure you know exists)."

And that ... was that.

Robert De Niro Trump Protester Strikes Back During Broadway Show

6/18/2018 7:00 AM PDT

Robert De Niro's protest chickens came home to roost -- one week after his "F**k Trump" speech, a Trump supporter gave it right back to him.

De Niro is directing "A Bronx Tale" on Broadway and, during the show's curtain call Saturday night ... a guy whipped out a Trump 2020 "Keep America Great" banner and stood by the stage. The crowd seemed to ignore him, according to some reports, and then security came and tossed him out of the theater.

Mind you, De Niro wasn't on the stage when the protest went down, so it's hardly a direct hit ... as far as rebuttals go, anyway.

You'll recall, De Niro threw down the gauntlet ... cussing out the President during last week's Tony Awards.

MLB's Bruce Maxwell Cussed Out Cops In Arrest Video 'This Is Why I Took a Knee'

6/16/2018 12:35 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Bruce Maxwell -- the only MLB player to kneel during the national anthem -- went off on cops during his Oct. 2017 arrest ... telling police he took a knee to protest "y'all motherf*ckers."

As we previously reported, Maxwell was arrested for aggravated assault at his AZ home after allegedly pulling a gun on a Postmates driver.

When cops arrived, Maxwell -- not wearing a shirt -- began berating the police officers.

"Think I'm intimidated? Cool. Cool. I hope so. I’m not afraid of f*cking none of y’all n*ggas. I don’t give a f*ck."

He continued, "Guess what, f*cking half of America afraid of y’all motherf*ckers. Yeah, that’s the reason why I took a knee. F*cking anthem, dog."

"F*cking our country is afraid of the f*cking police. Wanna know why? Because the f*cking police does unjustice sh*t and gets f*cking paid leave for it."

Maxwell explained he's mixed race -- "My mom is white as sh*t. My dad is black as a motherf*cker."

Later in the video, Maxwell gets emotional as he tells cops he and his family received death threats for his national anthem protest.

For their part, cops say Maxwell reeked of booze. He was transported to a nearby jail

As for the case, the aggravated assault charge was dropped ... and Maxwell pled guilty to disorderly conduct.

Paul Manafort Sent to Jail After Bail Revoked

6/15/2018 8:56 AM PDT

President Trump's former campaign manager will be behind bars for violating his bail for previous money laundering and tax law violations.

Paul Manafort was sent to jail by a judge Friday after being hit with new charges last week of obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Manafort's longtime associate, Konstantin Kilimnik -- who prosecutors have said has ties to Russian intelligence -- was also charged.

Mueller alleges Manafort tried to tamper with 2 witnesses in his money laundering case by "repeatedly" contacting them through WhatsApp and encouraging them to commit perjury.

That was enough for the judge to revoke his bail and lock him up until his trial in July.

As we reported ... Manafort surrendered to the FBI in October and was indicted on multiple federal charges, including laundering more than $18 million through foreign banks which was used to fuel his lavish lifestyle. He was placed on house arrest ... and ordered to wear an ankle monitor while he awaited trial, scheduled to start in July.

His home was raided a couple months before that as part of Mueller's probe into Russia interference of the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Farrah Abraham I Was Targeted 'Cause I'm Famous

6/14/2018 1:00 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Farrah Abraham says she's the real victim in her Bev Hills arrest, claiming hotel guests pissed her off and hotel staffers tried to toss her out ... purely because she's a celebrity.

We talked to Farrah shortly after her release from jail Wednesday, and she thinks it's clear people had it out for her Tuesday night at the Beverly Hills Hotel. She's vague on exactly who targeted her -- except to say it was a male hotel guest butting into her convo with a friend -- but says calling 911 was definitely over the top.

Police have a different story. As we've reported ... Farrah was arrested for allegedly striking a hotel security guard after he tried getting her to leave the premises. Cops say she'd been arguing with other guests.

She also told the arresting officers, "go f*** yourself" multiple times ... so that never helps.

Dennis Graham My Advice to #MeToo ... Stop Going into Rooms with Men

6/14/2018 7:04 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Dennis Graham thinks the #MeToo movement wouldn't be necessary if women avoided putting themselves in potentially dangerous situations. Watch, that really is what he's suggesting.

Drake's dad was leaving Delilah Wednesday night in WeHo, and we asked him about his friend, Jamie Foxx. As TMZ first reported, a woman told Vegas police, Foxx slapped her with his penis 16 years ago -- something Foxx strongly denies.

Dennis, who's slurring as if he's had a few drinks, admits he doesn't know what happened in Jamie's case -- but then says there's a bigger issue for women in general. As he put it, "Take your ass home. Don't go into a man's room."

Lil Scrappy I Wasn't Drunk or High During Car Crash ... It Was Pure Exhaustion

6/13/2018 3:06 PM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Lil Scrappy clocked in at least 11 hours and about 800 miles on the road the day he fell asleep behind the wheel and smashed into a utility pole ... leaving his friend and himself badly injured.

Scrappy spoke for the first time about the accident on "TMZ Live," and he revealed he had driven from South Carolina to Atlanta to Miami on the day of the accident. He admits he might have overextended himself by deciding to go out on the town with his friend, Ca$ino Roulette, who was a passenger in the car.

The rapper says he has no recollection of falling asleep behind the wheel, but he does remember Ca$ino and himself struggling to escape the car. Scrappy broke his foot in 7 places, and Ca$ino's injuries were far worse.

Cops say there were no drugs or alcohol involved, and have closed their investigation.

Farrah Abraham Taunted Bev Hills Cops... 'Go F**k Yourself!!!'

6/13/2018 11:16 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Farrah Abraham lit into the cops who arrested her at The Beverly Hills Hotel, but her tone changed dramatically when they hauled her off in a police cruiser -- and it's all on video.

The former 'Teen Mom' and 'Backdoor Teen Mom' star got belligerent while sitting outside the hotel talking to police. In this video, obtained by TMZ, she repeatedly yells, "Go f**k yourself" to the officers surrounding her.

Farrah's combative tirade continued when one officer took her wallet. She insisted she hadn't struck or injured anyone at the hotel ... so there was no need to arrest her. Obviously, cops didn't buy that and hauled her away, and that's when she turned on the waterworks ... sobbing and yelling, "I'm not resisting!"

We broke the story ... Abraham was arrested for allegedly striking a hotel security guard after he asked her to leave because she'd gotten into an altercation with some guests. Officers noted she appeared intoxicated.

Farrah was booked at 1:48 AM for battery and trespassing. As of now, she's still being held on $500 bail.

Lil Tay Coming Back as New, Phony Character ... Says Family Consultant

6/13/2018 8:21 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Lil Tay going off the radar after being exposed as an exploited child star is only temporary -- 'cause she's got another persona cooking in the kitchen ... so says a family friend.

We got Alex Gelbard -- who used to help manage Tay when she was hot stuff -- out in L.A. Tuesday, and he tells us Tay will be back with something "unique" and different from what fans came to know from the 9-year-old flex rapper.

In case you missed the Tay saga, she and her fam were put on blast after her 'GMA' appearance last month when tons of videos leaked of her being coached, and given what appeared to be hookah to smoke. She's deleted all social media since.

Not only that ... but Tay was found to be a full-on fraud after it was revealed her mom was using her boss's fancy car and her real estate listings to pump up her daughter's profile.

Gelbard's not working with Tay anymore, but he seems optimistic the kid can bounce back. Hanging with Rick Rubin's a great start.

Jamie Kennedy Jaw Literally Drops After Watching Lisa Lampanelli's Meltdown

6/12/2018 11:25 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Jamie Kennedy's eyes damn near popped out of their sockets watching Lisa Lampanelli's nuclear meltdown ... and he thought the way she handled it was great.

We got Jamie leaving Mastro's in Bev Hills on Monday night and our guy got straight to the point ... asking Jamie what he thought about how Lisa handled her heckler. TMZ broke the story ... the insult comic went off on a fan who tried to give her $100 to shut up during her Sunday gig in San Jose.

Jamie initially couldn't answer the question cause he hadn't seen Lisa's meltdown. No problem, cause our guy had the video handy ... and Jamie's reaction is almost as epic as Lisa's meltdown.

BTW ... Jamie's no stranger to going off on fans either. Remember when that chick burped loudly in the middle of his set?

6/12/2018 10:43 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Judge Judy is cautiously optimistic after President Trump and Kim Jong-un's historic meeting.

Judy was leaving Avra Beverly Hills Monday night and we got her ruling on what the world was watching all evening -- the historic handshake and summit between the 2 leaders. Her Honor is very optimistic about the future.

She was clearly moved by what she'd seen to this point, but she also seemed to have a message for any Trump haters who might be hoping the denuclearization talks fail.

Judy wasn't so much talking politics as she was peace.

U2 This One's for Anthony Bourdain

6/12/2018 6:49 AM PDT

Bono spoke for Anthony Bourdain's fans, friends and most likely his family too when he dedicated a song -- about another celebrity suicide -- to the beloved author and TV host.

U2 played an invitation-only show at the Apollo Theater Monday night and during the gig Bono addressed the deaths of Bourdain, Kate Spade and several other rock stars in the last year.

He said, "Music lost some great people who gave up on their own life, and that makes it kinda harder. Fashion and now this great storyteller, who I'm sure had stories he couldn't tell us."

The band then launched into its 2000 hit, "Stuck in a Moment" ... which was originally written about INXS lead singer Michael Hutchence, who also hanged himself in 1997.

Tekashi69 Gimme Chief Keef Beef on My Tour!!! Oh, and Lotsa Skittles

6/12/2018 12:40 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Tekashi69 isn't trying to hide it, he's got a major sweet tooth when it comes to his upcoming tour, but he also feels the need for more beef ... with Chief Keef.

We got a hold of 6ix9ine's list of demands for his European tour, which kicks off this week. While there's the usual fried chicken and meat tray requests, the rapper also has to have a copy of Chief Keef's CD, "Bang 3, Pt. 2" in all his dressing rooms.

That particular Keef record peaked at 78 in 2015, so we're guessing Tekashi only wants it around to troll his rival. Or maybe to play Frisbee.

They've had heated exchanges on social media recently, and Keef was shot at in NYC earlier this month. The bullet missed, and while many suspected Tekashi's crew was involved ... 6ix9ine flat-out denied it on "TMZ Live."

As for the sweet stuff, Tekashi wants 69 (clever) bags of Skittles at each stop, as well as ...

-- Chocolate chip cookies
-- 3 packs of Trident gum
-- 2 bags of Peanut M&M's
-- 1 large bag of Twizzlers

If Keef doesn't get him ... diabetes might.
