Drew Brees Predicts Patrick Mahomes Returns From ACL Injury Stronger Than Ever
Drew Brees Mahomes Will Come Back Stronger ... After ACL Tear
Drew Brees knows a thing or two about bouncing back from a torn ACL -- he did it as a high schooler -- and the NFL legend says not only will Patrick Mahomes bounce back, but he'll be better than ever!
The newly minted Hall of Famer chopped it up with Babcock this week ... where the guys talked Mahomes' injury recovery, and it'll be music to the ears of Chiefs fans.
“I think there’s no doubt that physiologically Patrick Mahomes is fine,” Brees told us.
“There’s certainly that, I think, that mental hurdle to get over just to say like, 'Hey, I can step into that, right?' Like, 'I can take that hit.' You know, can I just get past that psychological barrier of being able to turn it loose and not think about it at all?”
For Pat, Drew has little doubt.
"I'm confident that the best of Patrick Mahomes is still ahead of us."
And it's not just wishful thinking from Brees. He had the same injury three decades ago as a high school junior.
13 Pro Bowls, a Super Bowl, and endless other accolades indicate Drew bounced back from the leg injury ... not to mention all the medical advances.
Of course, the 30-year-old 3x Super Bowl champion tore the ligament during a mid-December game against the Chargers ... just over 250 days ago.
While the Chiefs haven't said for certain, Mahomes is expected to be back for Week 1 ... a Monday Night Football clash with the Broncos.
K.C. only won 6 games last season, and this could be the last hurrah with Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and head coach Andy Reid together.
Can they contend? Sure sounds like Brees thinks so!
