As we previously reported, the former WCW Tag Team Champion told cops he was working a security shift at a Love's Travel Stop in Kanas City, Mo. ... when an argument with a patron over a cigarette turned physical.

58-year-old 2 Cold Scorpio -- real name Charles Scaggs -- told authorities he used a knife out of self-defense ... claiming the man threatened him and tried to grapple.

Former wrestling star 2 Cold Scorpio -- who won a WCW Tag Team Championship with Buff Bagwell in the early 1990s -- was arrested on June 15 for violently stabbing a man during a gas station fight ... but he claims he was acting in self-defense.

According to court documents, obtained by TMZ Sports, the bloody incident happened at around 3:40 AM at a Love's Travel Stop in Kansas City, Mo.

Authorities say 2 Cold Scorpio -- aka Charles Scaggs -- told them he was working as a security guard at the store ... when he saw a man who had lit up a cigarette inside of the establishment.

A Chicago man says he defended himself in a move straight out of "Tom and Jerry" ... chasing off a guy who allegedly broke into his house with a classic cartoon weapon.

Jason Williams -- a resident of the city's Logan Square neighborhood -- says a security app alerted him to the alleged intruder's presence while on his way home from work Thursday ... and he sprung into action.

12:57 PM PT -- The Cleveland Browns just announced Lonnie Phelps is no longer a member of the organization ... waiving the defensive end on Thursday.

10:46 AM PT -- TMZ Sports has obtained police video from Lonnie Phelps' arrest ... and you can see the Cleveland Browns player did appear to be noncooperative and combative throughout his time with cops.

The footage seems to show him disobeying orders constantly. It also shows him getting heated with police after they threw him in the back of a squad car.

For the Browns' part, they just released a statement on the matter ... saying, "We are aware of the incident, gathering more information and have no further comment at this time."

Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Lonnie Phelps was arrested Wednesday night ... after cops say he drunkenly crashed an SUV into a restaurant -- and then refused to cooperate with a police investigation afterward.

According to the Key West Police Department incident report, obtained by TMZ Sports, it all happened at around 8:47 PM outside of the Red Shoe Island Bistro in Key West.

Cops say they were dispatched to the scene in reference to a traffic crash ... and when they arrived, they saw a black Hyundai wedged into the side of the eatery. When officers asked bystanders who was inside the vehicle at the time of the wreck, Phelps and his girlfriend were ID'ed, police said.

Justin Timberlake's DWI arrest was caught on body cam video -- but cops aren't planning to release it to the public anytime soon ... at least not until their investigation is wrapped.

TMZ officially submitted a request for a copy of the video -- which we know was taken during the time of the arrest early Tuesday -- and Sag Harbor PD just got back to us with their response ... saying they're denying the request for the footage, and citing a statute that's interesting.

According to SHPD ... the reason they won't drop the body cam video (for now) is because of a specific New York law that deals with the release of public records.

One of the cyclists who got mowed down by a car in Texas is crediting his own bike for saving his life after an alleged drunk driver ran over him -- who, BTW, has now been ID'd.

Cops say Benjamin Hylander -- an American Airlines cargo worker -- careened his car into retired physician Tom Geppert and his fellow cycling group rider Deborah Eads near Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Monday ... and now, we know the charges he's facing.

Remember ... this was all caught in shocking viral footage -- which shows Geppert and Eads getting hit from the back ... and Geppert getting crushed by the car. Now ... TG is recounting the whole thing ... telling a local media outlet he's lucky to be alive.

6:22 AM PT -- According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, cops say they came out to a marina near Miami Beach -- where they responded to a fight on one of the boats. Upon arrival, cops say they encountered Travis Scott, who they say was arguing with occupants on one of the yachts there ... and the person who reported him told the officers to get him the hell out of there.

Cops say they started to escort Travis away from the boat -- at which point they claim he was yelling obscenities at the people aboard -- and once they got past the docks and back to the street area ... where Travis had a ride ready to go.

Cops say Travis told them if he got into the car he was "gonna catch a fade" -- and then they say he was driven away ... only to return 5 minutes later, with the cops posted up and seeing him attempt to head back to the boat. They say they intercepted him ... and claim TS became erratic and belligerent, at which point they arrested him. BTW, they say Travis reeked of booze during all this ... hence the disorderly intoxication charge he was booked on.
