Nicole Richie,

This Is Your Life!

7/17/2007 2:51 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

An inmate at the Lackawanna County prison in Pennsylvania gave birth in her cell last week. It's a little like looking into a crystal ball for Nicole Richie!

Shakira Staten gave birth to a baby girl on July 10, the day before her 22nd birthday, according to the Times-Tribune. The paper goes on to say that a female guard cut the umbilical cord with her fingernails. Now that's what we call hard labor!

Nicole's DUI case, which originally scheduled for July 11, is now set to begin on August 16. She faces a minimum of five days in prison if convicted.

TMZ.......this is the most bs story ever!!! Makes absolutely no sense. So I guess when you don't have real news you just make up crap, and to the readers that actually believe this, you are even more pathetic.

A guard can't cut a umbilical cord with their fingernails..
There is strict code of ethics that correction officer's must adhere to.
The baby was delivered in a medical facility...
This story makes me wonder what else, TMZ is lying about...

Why do they say 5 days? I thought the CA law required a minimum of 90 days to 1 year for a second DUI within 10 years. I could be wrong but am pretty sure that's what the law says.

Could she be charged with murder if the baby dies because of lack of nutrition? Can her Dr. be held as an accomplice in the death? She should be 40 lbs heavier in order for the baby to receive proper nutrients. She is endangering the baby's life looking like a bone rack.

I agree that she should be treated like anybody else. However, the umbilical cord cut with a fingernail...yeah right. Hell, sometimes inmates get better healthcare than those that are not in prison.

Nice pic. She looks like she's foaming at the mouth. Come to think of it, that's her normal waking condition...

I hope she doesn't have the baby in jail. That would be a horrible 'how you were born' story :(

A baby will not keep her out of jail.

They problem for her is she plead not guilty. If the DA decides not to bargain, she's kind of screwed. In DUI cases, the courts hate people that attempt to fight the charges. What thye want is for you to plead guilty, admit to alocholism (or drug addiction), take remidial steps (rehab, etc). She admited to the cops she smoked dope and took pills. If the DA doesnt plea bargain, she's going to jail.
