Al Roker just learned the hard way that horses can be just as unpredictable as the weather -- when a horseback interview with a Kentucky Derby legend went terribly wrong ... on live TV.

Moments ago on "The Today Show," legendary female jockey-turned-NBC correspondent Donna Brothers was thrown off her horse during a live segment ... but like a true pro, she bounced right back up and threw back to the studio.

What happens when we fall off the horse ...

Horse did not buck,he spooked. He did not like Al's horse running into his butt.If she had been in a regular saddle I am sure she would have stayed on. I would have. That horse needs some training. It actually made me laugh but only because I've been there done that!

I gotta say that it had to be her bad karma. Many hundreds of race horses die every single year, and many more are injured. Horse racing is animal abuse, pure and simple, but because it's such a moneymaker, it continues, and participants continue to make lame excuses for it.

They both should have been bucked off and the horses should have taken off. I am sure they are really looking forward to running at top speed, falling down, tripping over each other and getting put down if they break a leg. And America's wealthiest will come out, drop alot of cash and drink themselves into oblivion while they watch these beautiful animals run till exhaustion.

Just to clarify, that was not a buck -- it was a spook. A buck is a much more aggressive act and that horse just spun around to avoid the other horse.

What Da

Why was she riding jockey style? She isnt a kockey anymore. If she rode in a regular english or western saddle. She wouldnt have fallen off. Oh, and no she wasnt bucket off. She just lost her balance which is super easy with jockey saddles since you essentially perch ontop of the horse without any side to side leverage.
