A former L.A. Kings hockey player-turned-assistant coach was arrested this morning in Washington D.C. for allegedly sexually abusing a 21-year-old woman -- his own daughter.
TMZ has learned 51-year-old Mark Hardy is in police custody after his daughter told cops that Mark "put his hand down [her] shorts and touched her genital area without her permission."
Hardy was arrested at the legendary Mayflower Hotel in D.C. -- where the alleged incident was said to have occurred early this morning. He's set to face a judge later today on the charge of misdemeanor sexual abuse.
UPDATE: TMZ has just received a statement from L.A. Kings saying simply, "We are aware of the charge. Due to the legal nature of this matter, we will not have any additional comments at this time."

I have real trouble with the police just taking her word for this. He probably told her something she didn't want to hear-father to daughter-and she figured she'd give him a little present back. And the sad part is that with this kind of allegation, everybody instantly believes her. Arrests should only take place if some sort of evidence, through a physical in a hospital or other obvious evidence, takes place. I heard a young male tell his mother he'd accuse her of something similar, get her arrested and ruin her life if she didn't let him have unlimited text time. Get it? This is a well used weapon with no validity sometimes.
People are sick. I swear everywhere I go people just aren't right :/ I'm convinced in today's day and age people are more MENTAL than ever!

His own daughter? Wow. Watch his defense team blame the game of hockey. One too many pucks to the head has made him lose the ability to act in a normal fashion. Watch for it, folks.
How do we know that she didn't have evidence? We really don't know at this point. At 20 years old, a close friend of mine dealt with her father coming onto her for the first time in her life. It is a bizarre and confusing experience. He may not be a pedophile but this guy can still get off on harrassing and abusing his own child even tho she is an adult.

I really hope there's been a misunderstanding. I'm a BIG Kings fan and I would hate for this to be true. But if it is true, then he should pay the consequences. No amount of team loyalty could make me excuse this for a minute. Just disgusting.

Anyhoo IF this is true, I wonder what kind of situation she put herself in or he had her in where he thought he was allowed to do this?? When this kind of act is done is because they think they are allowed which means there are many other acts (voluntary or not) that have been committed...
Guess we will see how this plays out...
