NFL Stadium

Offered $25M

to Promote Adultery

6/10/2010 4:10 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Meadowlands Stadium -- the brand new home of the New York Giants and the New York Jets -- now has 25 million reasons to endorse homewrecking ... courtesy of the dating site for adulterers, AshleyMadison.com.

NFL Stadium
AM founder Noel Biderman sent a letter to the CEO at New Meadowlands -- obtained by TMZ -- declaring, "At this stage, we are prepared to make a preliminary offer ... of $25,000,000 for the Naming Rights for a five-year term."

He adds, if the stadium gets better offers, "We would be pleased to match any such superior offer."

The offer (which works out to $5M a year) is pretty big, but it's still below the average for other stadium sponsorships -- Bank of America pays $7M a year to sponsor the Carolina Panthers stadium and FedEx drops $7.6 a year on the Redskins stadium in D.C.

This offer was just made to generate publicity. Anyone who actually follows sports knows that the stadium is looking for around 20 Million a year for the naming rights otherwise it will be called the Giants/Jets Stadium depending on who is playing that days home game until they get the offer they are looking for. The teams are not in a rush. This is exactly what has occurred with Cowboys Stadium in and Yankees Stadium.

I thought TMZ was starting a sports section? Shouldn't you guys understand sports stories before reporting on them? This isn't breaking into a donut shop after all.

Given its the Giants I think they should accept the offer. Giants fans are used to getting screwed by the team. They will feel right at home at Ashley Madison Stadium.

Ashley Madison is only trying for publicity by doing this...they have already been notified in writing by the NFL that they would NEVER be associated with them in any way for advertising. Ashley Madison tries to claim they are being discriminated against...apparently they do not understand that NO ONE is obligated to take their money and sell them advertising space just because they want it. The NFL has repeatedly turned them down two Super Bowls in a row. They may have some racy ads but they do draw the line at promoting infidelity.

"Noel Biderman, CEO of AshleyMadison.com, told CNBC that his ad was eventually rejected and was specifically told that the company wouldn't be allowed to advertise in any NFL game program until the end of time.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said that no one in the league office actually ever saw the ad. "After realizing what the site was, the sales rep called back and told the company there was a mistake and that his company could not sell an ad to the site."

The NFL is perfectly within their rights to turn ANYONE down for any reason if they choose.

I can see their new catchphrase for the stadium now. Instead of ..."Drop back 5 and Punt", it will be "Drop Down 5 For _unt!" Well, you get my drift.

Why not name it that? This world has already gone to hell in a waste basket. This would just be another nail in the coffin.

Bad enough we have the monstrosity called "Xanadu" (look it up non-NJ residents for a good laugh) in the Meadowlands. That area is turning into a three ring circus, which sucks more than you can possibly imagine. They were also talking about a huge ferris wheel with a giant Pepsi logo as the center. Then there's the cast of the non-NJ "Jersey Shore". Christ, we can't get a break...

Why not something not so controversial and something that fits like "JET BLUE" or "GREEN GIANT" Those would be 2 suitable stadium sponsors!!!

Considering the Giants and Jets broke off a possible sponsorship deal with Allianz (after public pressure)due to past ties to the Nazis, I think it's safe to say this would never happen anyway. Besides, I don't think you'll be seeing an adultery website associated in any way, shape or form with the Giants as long as someone named Mara (a famously Irish Catholic family that go to church on Sundays before games) is associated with the team...

It's not all about the bottom line always. The intangible loss in reputation would not be worth the money. The triple bottom line is the deal maker.

This will never happen. It would be a PR nightmare for the NFL. These ****ers tried to do the same thing at the Super Bowl either this year, or last year. There would be major boycotts against them by families and families play a big part in the NFL. These *******s who promote adultery will get what's coming to them. Karma is a bitch. These people are dishonorable pieces of **** who should be outcasts from society. Damn them and anyone who has ever cheated on their spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend. Dishonorable s***.
