UFC's Ricco Rodriguez

DUI Tap-Out

6/15/2013 12:25 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0614_ricco-rodriguez_gettyEx-UFC champ Ricco Rodriguez has just dodged the strong arm of the law in his drunk driving arrest ... TMZ has learned.

The "Celebrity Rehab" Season 1 alum was arrested in March on suspicion of DUI.

Rico copped a deal, and pled no contest to "wet reckless" -- reckless driving involving alcohol. It's not as serious as DUI, but gets the point across. The DUI charges were dropped.

The former champ won't spend any time in the pokey, but he will be on probation for 3 years. And he was socked with the obligatory $300 fine and a 12-hour alcohol ed program.

Sometimes it's better to throw in the towel.

I understand that you want to use the UFC name to get more eyes on this story, but come on calling Rodriguez is ridiculous. He hasn't fought for the promotion since 2003 and was only ever a part of the roster for 2 years.

"It's not as serious as DUI but it still gets the point across." How silly that we've been so overly serious about driving drunk.

It's great that we can now get the point across in a lighthearted way. (I look forward to seeing how long it takes for this kinder, gentler punishment to metriculate from the trodden upon masses of celebrities with lawyers to the unwashed masses of the general public.)

Well, if it's not as serious as DUI but it "still gets the point across," then I guess we can just replace that pesky DUI offense with this one across the board, right? How nice that we've found a middle ground for that persecuted group, celebrities with lawyers.

Problem will be with DMV...they do not recognize "Wet Reckless". Money wasted on an attorney...
