Emmy B.S.

Honor a Drug Addict

Diss a TV Legend

The suits who run the Emmys had to make a hard choice in deciding which dead actor to honor-- a TV icon who has won multiple Emmys, or a young actor with no Emmys who is now as famous for being a drug addict as a TV star.  They chose door number 2.

It's interesting.  We've spoken with several people who have won Emmys who are upset with the decision to give a special honor to Cory Monteith but not Jack Klugman, and they're all too scared to speak out ... for fear of some sort of retaliation.

Jack Klugman -- who has won 3 Emmys and starred in TV classics -- "The Odd Couple" and "Quincy M.E." -- has been overlooked and disrespected for special mention during tonight's ceremony.  Instead ... Cory Monteith gets the honor.  Jack's son thinks it's ridiculous and disrespectful, and he's right.

The Emmys are honoring 5 TV types who died in the last year -- 4 of whom have earned their stripes ... Jonathan Winters, Jean Stapleton, James Gandolfini, Gary David Goldberg -- and then there's Cory.

BTW ... Larry Hagman was also overlooked.

One TV type who has won multiple Emmys but wanted to remain anonymous scoffed and told TMZ, "Awards are like  hemorrhoids.  Eventually every asshole gets one."

The suits as they are called who made the decision to exclude Jack Klugman over a druggie need their heads examined. Firstly, Jack isn't the only actor who didn't get a tribute. Larry Hagman and Charles Durning were also fabulous actors who don't get a special memoriam. However, giving the honor to a druggie over any of these 3 really shows how Hollywood lives in their own twilight. I don't watch any of these award shows. I'm sick and tired of watching these entertainers kiss their own butts and think they are marvelous. I don't necessarily agree. This slight is disgusting. The suits should be very ashamed of themselves. I only hope the ratings on this Emmy show are in the toilet tomorrow morning. It deserves no better.

Goes to show you the sad state of affairs in this country when we glorify s*** and brush away those who made a (good) difference in our lives. The people who are afraid to speak up do nothing but reinforce bad behavior. RIP Jack, loved your work, loved your shows. I will forget the druggie. I won't forget you.

Here's an idea, assign people to the committee that were before born 1980's that demographic has a better idea of how TV has evolved and a pretty good idea of were it is headed.

What bothers me is all the hate toward Cory Monteith as though he somehow had anything to do with this. The Emmy Awards coordinators want RATINGS and they want to pull in the young viewers who don't watch their stupid show. That is all this is. Place blame on them not on a guy who never asked to be in a tribute on a show where the likes of Jack Klugman were pushed aside. I can't imagine he'd be down with that himself if he had any say. It's dumb and disrespectful to the veteran actors but not Cory Monteith's fault. The people upset should make it known to the coordinators of the show. What the heck are they afraid of?

DUIna Lohan says that Cory was weak and now he can never have a big comeback like Linds. Pretty sure DUIna was drunk when she said that - probably even drunker now.

1st off when did the Emmys or any awards show become more about honoring the dead actors then the ones who are still around? I am considered "the young" demographic still, a huge glee fan, and I have even gone to the glee concert BUT I will be watching the Emmys and I think that all of the awards shows need to knock it off with the tributes. There is a time and a place for tributes (awards shows) are not the time or place.

There are just NO words enough to respond to this ! Shame on everyone involved with this decision. It smells a bit like too much power by Ryan Murphy! Those that are "afraid" to speak out.. need to stand up tonight and honor these icons of their industry.. and ask themselves.. when their time comes..is this how they would want to be remembered by the industry they worked their lives in ?

Glorify drug addiction. Forget about Oscar and Major Nelson. Its the same crap with Amy Whino-house and Dick Clark. She gets 10 page tribute in people magazine and he gets 3/4 of s page. Disgraceful.
