Right before he caught a plane from London to the "Globes" -- to rub elbows with a bunch of powerful people who possibly could hire the guy -- Patel wasn't stupid enough to single out the one person of his dreams he'd like to work for.

And the winner for Best Oscar Night Crash goes to ... Karen Baker Landers!
Landers, who won Best Sound Editing last night for "The Bourne Ultimatum," had her ride royally wrecked after another car slammed into her chauffeured town car. She was visibly shaken -- but the accident didn't stop her from proudly showing off her Oscar and posing for pictures as she talked to the cops.
Luckily, nobody was injured.
