It’s the heyday of reality TV ... with fame-hungry hopefuls itching to hit our screens -- but one casting director tells us there’s no fast pass to fame if you can’t clear the ultimate requirement ... the STD test.

We caught up with Kristen Moss on TMZ Live Wednesday, and she broke it down -- if producers are tossing strangers in a house to explore each other sexually, they’ve gotta run heavy background checks ... and she says the big sensitive spot is STD testing, which wipes out a whole lotta hopefuls right off the bat!

Yup, you heard that right -- plenty of wannabes are actually riddled with STDs, which means they’re axed from casting ASAP ... especially since these shows pretty much guarantee things are gonna get hot and heavy beneath the sheets.

Mark Sanchez's attorney said the former quarterback is "still recovering" from wounds he sustained in a stabbing earlier this month.

The ex-NFLer's counsel, Tim Delaney, informed a Marion County, IN judge of Sanchez's condition during a pretrial conference on Wednesday.

Delaney told the court he was grateful the judge excused his client from attending the proceedings, noting Sanchez "is still recovering from the injuries he sustained" as well as the "medical intervention" he required to fix the damage.

A spokesperson for the St. Johns County, Florida Fire Rescue tells TMZ ... they responded to a call Saturday for a "nonresponsive person in cardiac arrest."

The final cause of death is still unclear, but a rep for the St. Johns County Sheriff tells TMZ ... "Deputies responded to an attended death at that address." An "attended death" is one in which the deceased has been a patient under medical care for a serious or life-threatening illness that will likely lead to death in a relatively short period of time -- days or months, but not years.

We spoke with Katelynn Smoot, whose daughter Lilah was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer earlier this year, about what the donation means to her and her family ... and, Smoot says it's given the family time to catch their collective breath.

The 91-year-old sex symbol of the '50s and '60s has been hospitalized for the past 3 weeks in Toulon, according to a Thursday report from French outlet Var-Matin. The outlet also reported she underwent surgery due to the "serious illness", with sources claiming her condition is "worrying."

On a positive note ... she is expected to be released from the hospital in the coming days, Var-Matin said. Brigitte has a home near Toulon in Saint-Tropez.

Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist for KISS, is dead ... TMZ has confirmed.

The legendary musician died Thursday after being hospitalized, and placed on life support ... with the family coming to the difficult decision to turn off his ventilator.

We broke the story ... Ace suffered a brain bleed after taking a nasty fall in studio a couple of weeks ago.

Ace Frehley's family announced he passed away Thursday evening.

Katie Thurston refuses to see her cancer diagnosis as terminal ... especially after the viral rumors about her death hit her hard when they started circulating in August.

We caught up with the former 'Bachelorette' after her appearance on "Good Morning America" Tuesday ... and, we had to ask how she was doing after the online rumor of her passing swept the internet.

Thurston says the early part of the death hoax was the hardest ... and, she tells anyone who might experience it to "show up for yourself" -- adding it's all part of the highs and lows of navigating cancer.

12:20 PM PT -- It appears Diane began seeing the doctor September 24th and last saw her doctor on Thursday, October 9th. She was pronounced dead on Saturday, October 11th.

Diane Keaton has been cremated ... and her death certificate backs up what her family said ... that she died from pneumonia ... and there were no other significant contributing factors.

In the death certificate, obtained by TMZ, the official cause of death is listed as primary bacterial pneumonia.

The document also says Diane died Saturday and was cremated Tuesday.
