The Empire State Building climbers thought they were on top of the world ... until NYPD officers came climbing right behind them ... armed with body cameras and handcuffs.

Newly released body cam video shows the nerve-racking pursuit from the cops' point of view ... capturing officers scaling the iconic skyscraper's steel spire before finally cornering the daredevil duo -- famed "rooftoppers" Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau -- hundreds of feet above Manhattan.

The footage -- released Wednesday by NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch -- shows officers carefully navigating the narrow metal framework until they reach the climbers. From there, the pair are calmly escorted back down through the maze of beams before they're ultimately slapped in handcuffs.

The jaw-dropping stunt is all on video -- famed "rooftoppers" Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau are seen making out atop the iconic skyscraper while holding a sign reading, "When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace."

Despite cops moving in fast, the couple wasted no time celebrating -- sharing photos of the proposal on IG, including a close-up of the ring and the moment Ivan dropped to one knee.

A bull rider got violently trampled during a rodeo in NYC, turning him into a bloody mess and sending him straight to the emergency room, according to police.

The terrifying incident occurred Sunday night in the Bronx, where the 25-year-old man was riding the bull at the Rodeo Tierra Caliente before he was suddenly tossed like a rag doll to the ground.

NBC New York obtained a video showing the exact moment the rider fell from the bull and was stomped by its hooves. Several handlers rushed in to drag the rider away to safety.

A Confederate flag that was on display for North Carolina's booth at the Great American State Fair in D.C.'s National Mall has been condemned by the governor ... and will be removed.

Six Flags isn't having the best month ... because another ride has broken down, leaving people stuck in the sky.

A witness tells TMZ ... they were at Six Flags Great Escape in Queensbury, New York, on Friday when they say the Adirondack Outlaw ride had gotten stuck on its side with people still on it.

You can hear in the video -- a bystander says they were up there for at least half an hour. The clip also shows mechanics working at the tippity top of the attraction to get things fixed.
