NASCAR Team Owner

The Moment He Lost Control

7/28/2010 4:15 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

TMZ has obtained several photos of the moments before and after NASCAR team owner Jack Roush crashed his airplane yesterday in Wisconsin ... a crash Roush was lucky enough to walk away from.

Jack Roush - Plane Crash
In the photos -- which were taken around 6:15 PM on Tuesday at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh -- you can see the plane veer to one side while attempting to land ... and then violently crash.

Roush -- who's the owner of Roush Fenway Racing -- and his only passenger Brenda Strickland were both transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Incredibly, this is the second time Roush has crashed a plane and lived to tell about it ... back in 2002, his aircraft ended up in a lake in Alabama, where he was rescued by a retired Marine who lived close by.

It was the tower's fault. They told him to turn right for finalo app-roach. Evertone knows NASCAR peaple only turn left.

Jack used to live down the street from me. I think his daughter still lives there..there are occasionally sweet cars parked out front. Hope he's okay.

Lay off Jack unless you too are a pilot. He also flys P-51 Mustangs so he is no dummy. I am glad he is OK!

This was at the Oshkosh airshow. He was flying low. BTW it's Stricklin not Strickland and she's his long time assistant and 61 years old.

To Marcia and electriczipper who seem determined to attack Mr. Roush's charactor, there is no 'Mrs. Roush'. Your comments are terribly unfair to a man that you don't even know nothing about. As an aquaintance of his, I can assure you that Mr. Roush is a wonderful, caring, extremely intellegent with outstanding dicipline and moral charactor. Unfortunatly I don't share these traits, so I guess its up to me to tell you to **** OFF!

Modern jets though very automated still require a high skill level. Roush,it's time to hire a professional "copilot". Focus on your business, enjoy your airplane but get realistic. Having a highly trained professional "copilot" sitting next to you in the ****pit can make flying not only safer but a lot more fun. It's money well spent.

Ok. Most of you who are looking at this article don't know a damn thing about flying. Why are you going to put down somebody, who obviously has the experience, along with the type rating to put him in the left seat, when you don't know the full story? Airplanes crash. Not all the time, but it does happen. It is not because he is old, or because he is stupid, it can be a variety of other reasons. Maybe human factors is involved. Maybe there was an instrument malfunction (blockage on the static port). For all you know, there could have been a miscalculation of speed. Everybody, get your facts straight before you jump to conclusions on how a person flies, when you can't even describe how a plane flies.

I love reading all the comments posted by uneducated neanderthals with no idea. Either learn about what you're commenting on or shut up!

I talked to a guy who was actually watching the approach. He didn't see the impact because of the trees but he knew the folks in the C170 that was taxiing out. They thought they were going to get hit and die right there. He made a lousy approach, tried to do a go around. Too little, too late. Stalled and crashed.

Why so many people say things they have no idea what they are talking about ? Jack is an excellent pilot ..and the fact is he was put very close to another airplane on the ground by the tower and did a great job of landing the plane without killing him or his passenger or anyone in the other plain !! ....
