Take it from a paramedic with sixteen years' experience: he died the moment he went into ventricular fibrillation, at least by the layperson's definition. It may have been fifteen minutes before he was officially pronounced dead and healthcare providers were presumably working to save him during that time... but v-fib is absolutely incompatible with a pulse/heart beat. So saying that he died fifteen minutes after going into ventricular fibrillation is really a misnomer.

Too bad he couldn't cheat death the way the Raiders cheat on the field. . .
