Emmy Winner Peter MacNicol

Cory Tribute is Great

... For Drug Awareness

Emmy winner Peter MacNicol is not buying what Jack Klugman's angry son is selling because Peter thinks the tribute to Cory Monteith could actually save lives.

MacNicol -- who won an Emmy for "Ally McBeal" and also starred in classics like "Ghostbusters II" and "Sophie's Choice" -- tells TMZ tonight's tribute to Cory will create enormous drug awareness and possibly reach thousands of teens on a path of destruction.

Peter doesn't think it matters that Cory died without a single Emmy. He says, "If we are going to get into a merit system based on longevity then we are in trouble."

Tell that to Adam Klugman -- who is furious that his 3-time Emmy winning deceased father is barely getting a mention at tonight's ceremony.

But MacNicol says, "The memoriam is not only to honor those who completed a full marathon."

Hollywood lives in a self-created bubble.

A bubble full of idiots, apparently.

I only hope that Miley Cyrus will jump up during the tribute with her tongue hanging out and her foam finger. That would make it especially poignant.

A public service announcement about the destruction of drug use would suffice. This is an insult to people who's craft we honor that never abused drugs.

McNicol needs to realize that had the roles been him and Klugman been reversed he wouldn't have received a tribute either. It's all fine and dandy until someone's stepping over your tombstone.

How does this save lives? Teenagers don't watch this crappy awards show? Barely anyone does anymore. So by tributing Cory Moteiths death by drug overdose this will somehow save others from doing it? I think not. I think Mr. Peter Ihavenoideowhothehell you are needs to get some therapy.

What a stupid statement from Peter MacNicol. Those that are using drugs are not going to stop because the Emmy's honored a druggie...

To not honor the "Greats" that have passed, however, is disrespectful and a sign of the problems with youth-worshipping Hollywood.

Klugman was a real actor and deserves to be honored. I never even heard of this Cory guy, and he caused his own death, addiction or not. They have gone way over the top in "honoring" him

Mr. Pukey

Peter MacNicol rode the coat tails of good actors and doesn't want to pi$$ off the Hollywood douchebags that want to capitalize on the kids score of some good hair-on! Idiots! Didn't they also honor Miley "***Dumpster" Cyrus too? Nice call on that one as well...

Peter MacNicol should stick to renting out his forehead as a billboard for advertising and stay away from issues that require intelligent thought,

"Battle of longevity" aside, potential alone doesn't mean anything.

If the Monteith segment is truly about drug awareness, then the message conveyed should be "Hey kids! Drugs are bad, and this is what happens when you're a dumbass addict!" and not some sappy "He was taken too soon" montage.

I agree with his statement. I also think the memorial should be representative of all generations. I also think these award shows are so self serving. Why people are all hung up on this one event when Ego stroking (award) season is just getting started is beyond me.
