Lindsay Lohan is a fan of tattooing words on her body -- because just a few months after she got a Billy Joel song lyric tattooed on her rib cage ... she got a much smaller saying on her left wrist.

According to our sources, LiLo hit up a tattoo parlor on Friday night to get the work done. The impetus for the new ink, we're told, was Lindsay's feeling that she's at a great point in her life ... and she wanted to do something she'd always remember. 

Our sources say Lindsay is excited for March 29 to come, because that's the day she will be done with her court-ordered community service.

Perhaps from then on, she won't do anything anyone would regret.

Lindsay Lohan and Billy Joel will always be together now -- whether he likes it or not -- thanks to her new tattoo ...  which, it turns out, also links her to TMZ's Max!?! Rad.

They're both from Long Island ... they're both terrible drivers ... and now Lindsay Lohan and Billy Joel have something else in common ... his lyrics tattooed on her body -- and TMZ has the photo.

LiLo rolled over to her favorite L.A. tattoo shop -- Shamrock Tattoos -- this week and got the words "Clear as a crystal, sharp as a knife I feel like I'm in the prime of my life" inked on her rib cage.

For those who weren't around during the "Storm Front" years -- the lyrics are from Joel's 1989 song, "I Go to Extremes." Pretty good song ... doesn't hold a candle to "We Didn't Start The Fire" though.

We're told Lindsay felt the lyric was important to her because "It represented where she is in life and everything she's been through ... it signifies that she's focused."

TMZ has learned Lindsay Lohan started to get some ink done before she got locked up -- but she didn't have time to finish the design ... because of that whole jail thing.



At first glance, it appears to be a bruise on LiLo's upper left arm -- but the mark is actually the tattooed outline of a little girl with her eyes closed.

We're told Lohan first went under the needle at the Shamrock Social Club tattoo parlor in Hollywood just a few weeks ago -- and ironically chose the image because "she liked the innocence of the girl."

Upon closer inspection of Lindsay Lohan (cause that's what we do) it appears she got a new tattoo while in Cannes.


Earlier this week, her right wrist was bare -- but now all of a sudden there is some kind of thing, then some stuff, then the Chanel logo.

It's not a teardrop tattoo or anything, but it's a start.

After hanging out at the Chateau Marmont on Wednesday, new gal pals LiLo and Lily stopped at a late-night tattoo parlor and copied RiRi by getting matching hers and hers "shhh..." ink on their index fingers.

Bet Samantha Ronson isn't gonna be quiet about this.

It's been awhile -- but as Lindsay Lohan was bumming around Miami Beach yesterday, she once again felt the soft touch of a boy's lips on her cheek.

Do not listen to tabloid reports that LiLo's bandaged arm indicates she may have tried to kill herself (they really do make up news don't they??), we know the real story -- she went and gots herself all inked up!

A source close to Lindsay tells us the starlet just recently got a new tattoo-- but hasn't revealed what exactly she had permanently marked on her wrist.

"Sam 4 Life" perhaps?? We kid, we kid!
