Jamie Foxx isn't turning the other cheek when it comes to the alleged assault where he took a glass to the face ... TMZ has learned he wants the perpetrator prosecuted.

A source with direct knowledge tells us the actor -- who is fully cooperating with the investigation -- wants to press charges so this type of incident does not happen to others.

No arrests have been made yet. While not named a suspect or person of interest in the investigation, we're told cops want to speak with Jasper Dolphin -- a "Jackass" stuntman who was apparently at Mr. Chow's on the night in question ... in connection to the alleged assault.

10:59 AM PT -- A spokesperson for Jamie tells TMZ ... “Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth. He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”

A representative for the PA Department of Corrections tells TMZ ... Mangione will be held in a single cell -- no roommate locked up with him -- at SCI Huntingdon just outside Altoona.

Luigi Mangione, the accused killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was arrested at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania Monday ... and in photos released by police, he's seen eating a hashbrown prior to his arrest.
