Wendy Williams Signs Legal Doc to End Guardianship

Just hours after TMZ's documentary on Wendy Williams dropped on Tubi, the wheels started turning to end her guardianship.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... Wendy signed an affidavit Wednesday afternoon asking the judge to set her free. According to the affidavit, Wendy says she has "regained capacity" to function without a guardian.

The reality television star shared the news in a simple black-and-white text post ... telling her millions of followers she's been out of commission the last few weeks due to a series of debilitating headaches.

Mellencamp was fighting through them until Tuesday, she says ... when the pain forced her to go to the hospital. Doctors then administered a CT scan and an MRI -- and, Teddi says they found multiple tumors on her brain, which her doctors think have been growing for months.

Wendy Williams is going to Miami this weekend for her dad's 94th birthday -- it's the first time she's been able to socialize in many many months -- and she'll be spending time with her son, whom she believes took advantage of her financially and triggered her guardianship.

Wendy appeared on Harvey and Mark Geragos' podcast, "2 Angry Men," and they asked her whether it was going to be awkward interacting with her son, Kevin. As Mark noted, Wendy handled it diplomatically -- and made it clear she's looking forward to seeing Kevin.

Wendy talks about the mishandling of her money in TMZ's new documentary, "Saving Wendy," which is streaming for free on Tubi. She says her guardianship was launched after her bank, Wells Fargo, noticed a number of hefty unauthorized withdrawals were being made. Wendy believes Kevin and others were behind it. Kevin has said he did nothing wrong.

R. Kelly lost his appeal across the board on his sex trafficking conviction ... but one judge thinks he was ordered to pay too much to one of his victims for name-brand herpes medication.

The disgraced R&B singer argued in his appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York that there was insufficient evidence, certain jurors should not have been empaneled, and counsel was ineffective while questioning potential jurors ... among other things, the docs state.

Wendy Williams can relate to hardcore criminals -- not that she's committed a crime -- but her life mirrors someone confined to a jail cell.

TMZ has dropped a documentary on Tubi, "TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy" ... which explores her guardianship which has now gone on for years. As she says, her life is isolated. She's in a New York City assisted living facility, where she is confined to a room on the 5th floor.

Wendy cannot leave the floor without permission from the staff. She says she's been outside in the fresh air twice in the last 30 days ... both times for dentist appointments.

Brett Favre says he's down to donate his brain following his death so it can be used for CTE research ... though he tells TMZ Sports he's sure hopeful that's a decision he and his family won't have to make for a LONG time.

Favre infamously dealt with head injuries throughout his 20-year NFL career ... and when we asked him this week if he'd consider giving his cerebrum up to scientists following his passing so it can be studied, he said he wouldn't mind.

Of course, the 55-year-old Hall of Famer told us he'd prefer if that choice came far later than sooner.

David Lynch Died From Cardiac Arrest ... Caused by COPD

We've learned David Lynch's cause of death ... his death certificate was released Friday.

In the L.A. County Dept. of Public Health document, David's immediate cause of death is listed as cardiac arrest ... with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as the underlying condition. The document also lists dehydration as a significant contributor.

Lynch himself revealed last year he was diagnosed with emphysema after years of smoking cigarettes, and likely wouldn't be able to direct anymore, or even leave his house. In November, the director responsible for "Blue Velvet," "Mulholland Drive" and "Twin Peaks" admitted he couldn't even walk without oxygen ... saying smoking had been an integral part of his life since he started at just 8 years old.

A 660-pound Thai woman was too big for a regular ride -- so instead, she had to be strapped into a breakdown recovery tow truck to get to the hospital, as seen in this video.

Check it out -- paramedics rushed to the home of 36-year-old Chatwisa in Ayutthaya, Thailand, after she started having trouble breathing. When they got there, they found her face down on the bed, slurping sugary milk tea from a bowl next to her mouth.

Paramedics inserted a tracheal tube to help her breathe, then had to knock down a bedroom wall and remove a door. It took more than 20 people to hoist her custom-made metal-framed bed outside to be loaded onto a tow truck -- the same kind used to haul two-ton SUVs.

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Irving 'Irv Gotti' Lorenzo, on February 5, 2025. Surrounded by family and friends, he departed this world, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him and the countless lives he touched."

The tribute -- signed by Angie, Sonny, and JJ -- honors their dad's professional achievements and passion for music ... and the family asks for privacy as they grieve his loss.

Music mega producer Irv Gotti -- who worked with big acts like DMX, Ja Rule and Ashanti -- is dead ... TMZ has confirmed.

Multiple sources close to his family tell us he died Wednesday in New York City. It's currently unclear exactly how he died.

Irv's battled health problems recently since suffering a stroke last year, and has had to walk with the aid of a cane.

Wendy Williams' insistence she is not suffering from dementia is striking a chord with her legal guardian ... who's now telling the judge Wendy should get a new medical exam.

The court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, informed the judge overseeing Wendy's case, informing her about Wendy's recent interviews -- including one with TMZ and another with "The Breakfast Club" -- where she said she did not have frontotemporal dementia ... the original diagnosis that landed her in an assisted living facility.

Morrissey, through Roberta Kaplan -- one of the attorneys representing the guardianship in its lawsuit against the makers of the "Where Is Wendy Williams?" series, says during her Wednesday morning interview, Wendy told Charlamagne Tha God she does not want to proceed with a lawsuit against A&E over the Lifetime docuseries that aired last year. The guardian says they were only pursuing the case for Wendy's benefit ... but, now, since Wendy's calling out the guardianship, they're shifting gears.
