JJ Redick was sentimental as he addressed the media after the wildfires claimed his Pacific Palisades home ... with the Lakers head coach reflecting on the tragic week in Los Angeles.

The first-year head coach spoke with reporters at practice on Friday -- one day after the fires forced the NBA to postpone L.A.'s home game against the Charlotte Hornets -- where he went into detail about what the last few days have been like for his family.

While Redick was in Dallas getting his squad ready for a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks ... he said his wife, Chelsea, was out with friends when she spotted the fire, and rushed home.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis is stepping up to help a team staffer whose family lost everything in the wildfires ... by making a substantial financial contribution to kickstart the recovery process.

Longtime Lakers videographer Rohan Ali shared the tragic news this week ... saying his childhood home in Altadena, where his parents Gayle and Rasheed lived for more than three decades, was destroyed in the blaze -- and their valuables and keepsakes didn't survive.

Rohan launched a GoFundMe to help with food, housing, transportation and other costs as his family attempts to rebuild ... and on Thursday, AD did his part by donating $20,000 to the cause.

Thursday's contest between the Lakers and Hornets has been postponed ... as firefighters continue to battle flames all across Los Angeles.

The league just made the decision to move the game minutes ago ... writing in a statement no makeup date has been scheduled just yet.

"The entire NBA family sends its thoughts and support to the community of Los Angeles during this challenging time," the league said. "We are grateful for the thousands of local firefighters and first responders who have demonstrated enormous bravery. Our prayers remain with those affected by the unimaginable devastation caused by the wildfires."

JJ Redick says his loved ones were among the thousands forced to evacuate amid the Los Angeles wildfires ... and his family is distraught as the flames continue to spread throughout the area.

The Lakers head coach provided the update prior to his team's 118-97 road loss to the Dallas Mavericks ... revealing the blaze in the Pacific Palisades is right in his neighborhood.

Redick said his thoughts and prayers are with those affected ... and that also includes his wife's sister's family.

Haters can save their breath when it comes to JJ Redick  ... 'cause his former teammate, Matt Barnes, tells TMZ Sports the Lakers coach simply "doesn't give a s***" about any outside noise.

Barnes played with Redick on the L.A. Clippers from 2013 to 2015 ... and if there's one takeaway he got from their time together, it's that the dude stays focused on what matters -- and definitely knows his stuff.
