Jelly Roll bid a fond farewell to the great Dolly Parton ... saying she might be the last universally beloved American we ever see.

The singer-songwriter is guest-hosting on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" ... and on Tuesday night he brought up Dolly's passing in the middle of his monologue ... noting that we lost a "legend" and an "inspiration to so many."

The broadcast showed a photo of Dolly and Jelly Roll together ... and he reflected on going from sitting around the kitchen table with his family and listening to her music as a kid -- to actually learning songwriting skills and business tips from her as an up-and-coming artist.

"Love Island USA" star Zac Woodworth has been hospitalized for an unknown condition.

The reality star posted a video on his Instagram Story Tuesday, showing him lying on a hospital bed with two male pals sitting in his room. He had a monitor on his chest, but did not divulge details about his health.

TMZ has reached out to him for comment ... so far, no word back.

Meghan Markle's return to acting might not be happening after all ... because a new report indicates "The Gentleman" ran scared from the star due to fan outrage.

Lauren J. Salkin -- an entertainment journalist and TV writer -- filed the federal lawsuit in California against several parties Friday ... claiming that in 2016 and 2017 she submitted a pilot script and additional materials for a show titled "Sovereign Nation" to Taylor's production company.

She says she knows these materials were reviewed because she received a note from Elevate Entertainment that reads, "Taylor thanks you very much for your interest. Unfortunately, he's unavailable for TV projects."

However, she says within months, Paramount greenlit Sheridan's show "Yellowstone" ... which aired its first episode in June 2018. Salkin says the similarities between her show and Taylor's are too numerous to be a coincidence.

Nick Cannon will be taking "Wild N' Out" and its hilarious jokes on the road full-time... because we've learned they're leaving their traditional format behind to focus on the live tour.

Rip Micheals -- one of the executive producers of "Wild N' Out" -- tells TMZ ... the show is officially getting rid of its traditional format, which saw the show film at a central location with an in-studio audience.

For the next season, Rip says the show will be doing a live tour and taping it ... collecting the footage from a series of different cities ... much like the hit show "Verzuz."
