Sean Avery

NHL Star Taunted Police

'FAT LITTLE PIGS'

8/5/2011 8:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Sean Avery
NHL
star Sean Avery challenged cops to a FIGHT when they responded to his Hollywood Hills home this morning ... calling them, "Fat little pigs" ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

We're told cops were dispatched to the home over a complaint about loud music -- and when they arrived to Avery's pad, the hockey star was NOT happy to see them.

Sources tell us 31-year-old Avery immediately began running his mouth at the cops -- telling them he would fight all of them ... even challenging them to, "Come back without your badges."

During the incident, Avery -- who famously dated Elisha Cuthbert a while back -- allegedly shoved an officer and slammed the front door on the cops.

We're told cops began speaking with Avery through the door -- and warned him that if he didn't open the door, they would break it down. That's when Avery decided to open up and cooperate.

As TMZ first reported, Avery was hauled to a nearby station and booked for battering a peace officer.  He has since been released after posting bail.

In the US, there are two people you do NOT mess with; 1. The one who can take your money (IRS)2. The one who can take your freedom (Police).

It sounds like this guys money and fame have gone to his pea sized brain. He will probably be on probation for 3 years now for giving the popo an attitude when answering his doorbell.

That is not typical behavior of any Canadian hockey player I ever knew. Times have changed, I guess.

Avery is a puss both on the ice and off. Always has been - so his hissy fit with the cops is no shocker. I am surprised, however, that he didn't take a dive and start holding his knee or something.

Export him to Canada---just like they dont let Americans convicted of DUI into their Country--send this Police Abuser back to the Northland. Let him play just there---no America visits. He's a danger to society, women, and the Police. Cant believe the NHL doesnt police their own problem players---both Bettman and the Players. Clean house with this piece of garbage. Its not cute anymore Sean, its mental illness.

This type of behaviour doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
As time goes by, Avery gets worse. He's a train wreck looking for a place to happen. Being arrested might be one of the best things to happen to him. With any luck, the judge might order that he seek anger management counselling.
A person can only behave in this derogatory manner for just so long; then it all comes crashing down around them. The old saying is so true...'what goes around, comes around".

I knew that he would come back to play for my team after the last incident. I don't think that he should be punished from the NHL just because of this. He is on his own time now. If this happened during hockey season then yes he should be suspended. I am a fan of his and always will be.
