Emmy Winner Peter MacNicol

Cory Tribute is Great

... For Drug Awareness

9/22/2013 12:50 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Emmy winner Peter MacNicol is not buying what Jack Klugman's angry son is selling because Peter thinks the tribute to Cory Monteith could actually save lives.

MacNicol -- who won an Emmy for "Ally McBeal" and also starred in classics like "Ghostbusters II" and "Sophie's Choice" -- tells TMZ tonight's tribute to Cory will create enormous drug awareness and possibly reach thousands of teens on a path of destruction.

Peter doesn't think it matters that Cory died without a single Emmy. He says, "If we are going to get into a merit system based on longevity then we are in trouble."

Tell that to Adam Klugman -- who is furious that his 3-time Emmy winning deceased father is barely getting a mention at tonight's ceremony.

But MacNicol says, "The memoriam is not only to honor those who completed a full marathon."

That is a BS Statement the Emmys have never done anything about Drug Awareness in the Past and the tribute to corey is not about Drug Awareness it is about lea Michele getting on stage to perform.

Peter you don't know what your talking about. Cory was a drug addict. He's dead. Half the people I know didn't even know who Cory was until he died of a drug over dose. He does not need to be awarded for it. The problem with Hollywood they make all drug addicts hero. I lived in Hollywood at one time worked in the business one time and I do know what goes on in Hollywood.

Bullsh*t. One-hit wonder bubble-gum Monteith over a real actor to please slack-jaws who are already watching is ridiculous, and PM is delusional if he thinks ten seconds of a beauty shot of a druggie will actually "save lives."
That isn't the point of the In Memoriam, panderer.

"Drug Awareness", what PR group cooked that after-thought up.
TELL THE TRUTH: Cory Monteith agent et al. are still trying to milk his death for themselves before his star fades totally out...

please tell me how this will save lives, when so many actors before him have died from drug use, and the drug use just keeps growing. it is also made light of in the entertainment world. they like to act like its something everyone does and not a big deal.

Jack Klugman was a great actor. His Twighlight Zone appearances alone stand out for their excellence. I can understand his son's anger, but lashing out at Cory is hurtful to his family, friends and fans. And if you want to be technical about it, Jack was a drug addict too. Nicotine. I know smokers don't like to consider themselves as drug addicts, but they are. As I was for many years before finally quitting. I also think the suddenness of Cory's death plays into it, too. His career as an actor could have taken him to so many places before his light was prematurely snuffed out.

I like Peter but he is clearly WRONG. Cory's story is relevant to the watchers of Glee but how is his death gonna save lives. Celebrities have had drug overdoses and issues with drugs for many many years. And yet there is still widespread use. I'm not watching the ceremony....Jack deserves better

You're wrong Peter MacNicol. The emmies are a night where everybody brown noses everybody, they couldn't have done it without the team, and yes breast hanging out everywhere for people to descretely get a peek/pique of what they are intentionally showing .

Ah for actors and actresses.

No Peter MacNicol your wrong. The emmies are about ta ta's and lies and big smiles, but no drug awareness

As well his son should be pissed. A drugged out kid gets top billing over a legend? Stupid self congratulatory shows have outlived their shelf life.

Great message! Abuse drugs, kill yourself and you will be honored by the Hollywood morons.

I don't think it'll bring awareness, it'll more than likely do the opposite.
