Richard Simmons National Enquirer Lawsuit Isn't Anti-LGBT ... Say Trans Models

5/10/2017 12:20 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Richard Simmons isn't anti-LGBT by suing "National Enquirer" over a story claiming he's been transitioning to a woman ... at least not according to transgender model Carmen Carrera.

'Enquirer' claims Simmons isn't pro-LGBT because his suit claims defamation and that suggests being transgender is a bad thing. Carrera says that's just BS.

Zion Moreno -- a trans model who is vying for a shot in the next Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition -- says it doesn't matter if Simmons is transitioning ... there's a bigger issue the Enquirer is missing.

Richard Simmons Sues the Nat'l Enquirer The Sex Change Story Was a Malicious Lie

5/8/2017 1:37 PM PDT

2:25 PM PT -- The National Enquirer says Richard Simmons' lawsuit is ironic ... since he claims to support LGBTQ rights, and is now claiming he was defamed by its story he was transitioning to a woman.

What's really ironic is ... Simmons said exactly that in his lawsuit -- that the Enquirer was gambling he wouldn't sue because it would make it seem like he thinks there's something wrong with people who transition.

The Enquirer adds, "We stand by our reporting about Mr. Simmons, and intend to vigorously defend this lawsuit and win public vindication of our reports."

Richard Simmons is suing American Media for a story claiming he was transitioning to become a woman.

Simmons claims defamation and invasion of privacy against the National Enquirer for writing what he calls "cruel and malicious" stories.

Simmons claims in his lawsuit the publications knew the information was false but felt Simmons would never sue because it would make him appear unsympathetic to people who transition ... as if something were wrong with it. Simmons says in the suit they "miscalculated."

The suit claims the stories were based on a source who Richard says has been blackmailing, extorting and stalking him for several years.

One of the stories claimed Simmons was now a woman, had a boob job and was "considering having a vagina built by doctors." The story claimed he was living as a woman named Fiona.

The suit claims Simmons warned the publications the story was false but they were "coldly oblivious to the damage their cruel stories would cause ... "

Stephen Colbert People Who 'Holster' Penises Are American Heroes

5/4/2017 6:46 AM PDT

Stephen Colbert gave the weirdest apology/non-apology in recent memory ... sort of walking back his presidential male-on-male oral sex joke ... seemingly saying gay men who partake are "American Heroes."

Colbert was criticized by some who felt his remark during Monday night's monologue -- "The only thing your mouth [Trump's] is good for is being Vladimir Putin's cock holster" -- was homophobic.

Colbert began Wednesday night's monologue by saying he had "no regrets" about his rant and he'd do it again, but then he walked it back.

Colbert says some of his language was cruder than necessary, and "I just want to say for the record, life is short, and anyone who expresses their love for another person, in their own way is, to me, an American hero."

The audience loved it, but ... hard to ignore it's a seriously homophobic punchline ... the kind of thing that usually gets celebs in hot water.

Katy Perry Blasted for Collab with Migos Over Homophobic Remarks

4/27/2017 12:45 PM PDT

Katy Perry's getting slammed for her new single before anyone's even heard it, because people aren't cool with her co-stars on the track -- Migos.

Perry's new song, "Bon Appetit," will be released Friday, but the backlash has already begun when the cover art revealed she collaborated with the rappers. Fans are pissed because they've made homophobic and misogynistic remarks ... notably, when an ATL rapper came out as gay, Quavo said, "This world is not right."

Now, Perry's getting heat  ... especially after accepting a National Equality Award last month at the Human Rights Campaign gala.

This isn't a first for the pop singer ... she's also been criticized by the LGBT community for her songs "I Kissed a Girl" and "Ur So Gay."

We reached out to Katy's people ... so far no word back.

Check out mama bear on the defense.

Caitlyn Jenner to John Leguizamo How'd Ya Like the Chick Experience? ... Awkwardness Ensues

4/25/2017 8:40 AM PDT

Caitlyn Jenner created a super awkward moment when she asked John Leguizamo if he enjoyed dressing up like a woman.

Caitlyn was a guest on 'Live' with Kelly Ripa, and John was her guest co-host. CJ made a callback to John's classic role in "Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" ... where he played a drag queen.

He was brutally honest about the experience. Kelly seemed to squirm. Caitlyn's reaction -- you should see what I've gone through!

Pretty sure it's not a competition, but Caitlyn's right about one thing: John did slay in 'Wong Foo' ...

Aaron Hernandez Prison Cell Letters NOT for Gay Lover ... Attorney Insists

4/24/2017 2:37 PM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Letters were found inside Aaron Hernandez's cell when his body was found, but none of them were written to a gay lover.

Hernandez's lawyer, Jose Baez, tells TMZ Sports, "Rumors of letters to a gay lover, in or out of prison, are false. These are malicious leaks used to tarnish somebody who is dead."

The D.A. announced Thursday 3 letters were next to Hernandez's Bible, and that's when the rumors began.

Baez said he is not prepared to say whether Hernandez's death was suicide or foul play. He says, "There is still plenty we are investigating."

Barb from 'Stranger Things' Comes Out as Bi Apologizes to LGBT Fans

4/19/2017 10:05 AM PDT

Shannon Purser -- who plays Barb on "Stranger Things" -- came out as bi this week, and apologized to fans who thought her show was misleading the LGBT community.

Shannon posted the news Tuesday night in response to online backlash over her show, "Riverdale" ... which fans accused of queerbaiting. If you're unfamiliar, that's when a show teases fans into thinking characters are gay to build an audience, but ultimately they turn out to be straight.

"Riverdale" was accused of doing that with it's characters Betty and Veronica ... pissing off a lot of Beronica worshipers. That's when Shannon got involved.

She posted an offensive tweet a fan sent her -- which Shannon felt harassed by -- and then announced ... she's bi.

'Survivor' Outing 'ANTM' Alum Backs Zeke Trans Has Nothing to Do with His Game

4/15/2017 12:30 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Transgender model Isis King is taking a strong stance in support of 'Survivor' contestant Zeke Smith after his televised outing, because she went through the same thing on "America's Next Top Model."

Isis was the first transgender contestant on 'ANTM' in 2008. She was outed on TV, and some rival models refused to acknowledge her transition. Tyra later funded her reassignment surgery.

Isis says Jeff Varner put unfair pressure on Zeke, especially because his being trans had NOTHING to do with winning or losing 'Survivor.'

She did say there's ONE situation where it's relevant, and we highly doubt it applies to tribal council.
