TMZ, NYP 'The Low Down:' Chris Brown's Club Fight Sentence Sparks Debate
TMZ, NYP 'The Low Down' Did Chris Brown Get Off Easy After Affray Guilty Plea?
Chris Brown's avoiding jail time after pleading guilty to his involvement in a UK club fight ... and the decisive sentence has caused serious debate.
The argument went down on Monday's episode of "The Low Down," the new YouTube collab between TMZ and the New York Post, where we give you the inside scoop on the biggest stories that are gripping, outrageous, and scandalous.
As we reported ... the singer-songwriter received an 8-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to affray -- a criminal act involving a fight or the threat of violence by two or more people that disturbs the public peace -- after he hit a man with a tequila bottle. His codefendant, Omololu Akinlolu, also avoided jail time.
While some members of our team argue this jail time isn't sufficient given Chris' checkered past, others want to know exactly what started the confrontation ... including what his former friend, Abraham Diaw, said to Chris.
They also discuss Chris' mental health ... remember, he was diagnosed with bipolar depression and PTSD more than a decade ago.
Chris Brown, 37, was sentenced to 8 months in prison, suspended for a year for affray, striking Aber Diaw with tequila bottle multiple times. I record his dramatic exit from Southwark Crown Court to a waiting car 🚗. https://t.co/TU5J6T5csV @daveatherton
However, is there a point where it's not sufficient to simply chalk up the star's repeated bad behavior to mental illness?
Head on over to YouTube to hear them debate this question and so much more on "The Low Down."
