Priest Holmes just lost one of his most cherished records to Travis Kelce, but he ain't bitter about it ... in fact, the Kansas City legend is heaping praise on the tight end -- and the guy's future wife!!

The ex-Chiefs tailback chopped it up with TMZ Sports on Tuesday -- just hours after TK tied his K.C. record for career touchdowns with 83 -- and Holmes was anything but salty.

The 52-year-old offered up immediate congratulations ... while saying it'll be "pretty awesome" to see Kelce inevitably pass the coveted scoring mark later this season.

Police in Sugar Land, Texas say Adrian Peterson fessed up to throwing back shots of a vodka mix at a poker game early Sunday morning ... just hours before he was arrested for DWI.

The officer who took Peterson into custody over the weekend wrote in court documents, obtained by TMZ Sports, that the former NFL running back made the admission while the two were at a Sugar Land gas station at around 9:23 AM.

The officer alleged in the docs he encountered Peterson asleep at the wheel of a running black Mercedes SUV that was next to some pumps ... and he claimed once he woke up the unconscious ex-Minnesota Vikings star, he reeked of booze and had blood shot, glossy eyes as well as a slurred speech.

Travis Kelce appeared to pay homage to his fiancée following a big touchdown on Monday night ... with Taylor Swift fans convinced he hit her 'Fate Of Ophelia' dance.

Check it out ... just after the Chiefs tight end reached paydirt in the third quarter of Kansas City's "Monday Night Football" matchup with the Commanders, he seemed to emulate moves she made in the music video for her smash hit off her new "The Life Of A Showgirl" album.

Kelce -- mimicking the arm motions Swift created for the lyrics "pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes" -- looked like he put his hand on his heart before he stared at his gloves. He then pumped his arms in the same way Swift did in the 'Fate Of Ophelia' visuals.

Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes were side-by-side, cheering on their men at the Kansas City Chiefs game ... both rocking similar red outfits for the occasion.

TS and BM were spotted in their usual box seats Monday night at Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs vs Washington Commanders game ... with the broadcast cutting to the duo shortly after Taylor's fiancé, Travis Kelce, put the Chiefs up 21-7 in the 3rd quarter -- catching a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes.

Taylor and Brittany were seen chatting and pointing toward the field ... with Taylor wearing a sleek red turtleneck and Brittany sporting a similar long-sleeve top.

Good news for Cam Skattebo -- the New York Giants rookie sensation is set to be released from the hospital on Monday, according to his dad, who tells TMZ Sports he's already on the road to recovery!

We spoke with Leo Skattebo Monday morning, just about 24 hours after Skatt suffered a gruesome ankle injury during the second quarter of the Giants vs. Eagles game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia ... and he told us the plan was for his son to be discharged later today.

Given the serious nature of the injury -- a dislocated ankle that required emergency surgery -- it's an encouraging sign that Cam will get to leave the Philly hospital for his bed at home.

Justin Fields kept it honest with reporters after the Jets' first win of the season ... saying the past seven days have "been a lot for me" -- and at one point, he found himself crying on the ground in the closet.

Fields laid it all out when meeting with the media ... days after team owner Woody Johnson called him out for the team's rough season.

Fields explained it wasn't being winless that had him overcome with emotion, but rather his faith in God as he desperately prayed for a victory.

TMZ Sports has obtained Adrian Peterson's mug shot stemming from his DWI arrest over the weekend ... and it's clear from the photo, the NFL legend was not thrilled to be behind bars.

Check it out ... Peterson, wearing a dark colored top, looked completely stoic in the snap and his eyes did appear to have a tinge of red to them. There, however, was not much else remarkable about the pic.

We broke the story ... Peterson was booked in a Fort Bend County, Texas jail on Sunday on one count of unlawful carrying of a weapon and one count of DWI.

Nick Mangold's sudden passing has shaken the NFL community ... and his former coach, Rex Ryan, fought back tears on live TV as he reflected on the loss of the beloved player.

Ryan -- who coached Mangold for six years with the New York Jets -- was on ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" desk when the Jets announced the standout center died from complications with kidney disease.

Ryan grew emotional as he remembered Mangold ... calling him a "great young man."

A-Rod revealed the decades-old story during an interview with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" Sunday, where JF dug up an old photo of Rodriguez and Mahomes from Alex's playing days with the Texas Rangers, when he was teammates with Patrick Mahomes Sr.

The 50-year-old then told a story about advice he gave Mahomes ... who had been peppering him for days, looking for wisdom from the baseball great.

Adrian Peterson has been arrested after allegedly driving while under the influence ... TMZ has learned.

According to online records, Peterson was arrested in Sugar Land, Texas around 10 AM local time Sunday. He was booked on one charge of DWI and one charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon.

This is Peterson's second DWI arrest this year after he was popped in Minnesota back in April shortly after the Vikings draft day party when a police officer claimed they saw him going 83 in a 55 MPH zone at just after 3 AM.

Cam Skattebo -- the New York Giants breakout rookie running back who has electrified their offense -- was carted off the field after a big hit seemingly left his ankle facing the wrong way.

The 23-year-old fourth-round pick out of Arizona State University took the field against the Philadelphia Eagles ... and, as he was running over the middle on a passing route, when a ball came his way -- and an Eagles defender dragged him down from behind.

Former New York Jets star Nick Mangold has died after complications from kidney disease.

The team announced the news Sunday, less than two weeks after Mangold publicly revealed he was battling a rare genetic disorder and had been placed on kidney dialysis.

Jets owner Woody Johnson honored Mangold in a statement, calling him "the heartbeat of our offensive line for a decade" and a "beloved teammate whose leadership and toughness defined an era of Jets football."

A night of celebration turned tragic at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania when gunfire erupted during homecoming festivities, leaving one person dead and six others injured.

According to the Chester County District Attorney's Office, the shooting happened outside the school's International Cultural Center late Saturday after the homecoming football game.

One person was detained with a firearm, but no charges have been filed. Investigators are also looking into whether a second shooter may have been involved.

The NFL just handed down some hefty fines on the New York Giants, head coach Brian Daboll and rookie running back Cam Skattebo for violating the league's concussion protocol policy ... all for "creating the perception" they interfered with Jaxson Dart while he was being evaluated for a head injury.

It all stems from the team's Week 6 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles ... when the Giants rookie QB was taken into the blue medical tent for a concussion test.

Only members of the medical staff and the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant are allowed inside the tent. Daboll and Skattebo broke those rules ... which is a big no-no.

It seems as if A.J. McCarron's still pretty open to the idea of calling big plays ... because he just launched his campaign for the position of Alabama's lieutenant governor.

The former quarterback officially announced he'd be tossing his hat -- or helmet -- into the ring for the position, which is up for grabs in 2027, in a video on his campaign's official YouTube account Thursday.

McCarron, running as a Republican, describes himself as an "outsider candidate" ... and claims he'll help push a conservative agenda in Alabama, where right-wing beliefs run deep.
