The two superstars -- who are, coincidentally, archenemies -- have been losing a crap ton of followers on Instagram and other platforms over the past several days, which is in line with a broader trend that's sweeping the internet right now ... namely, boycotting celebs.

You might've heard about this, at this point -- especially after the Met Gala ... when the whole movement kicked into high gear, and normies mobilized to block A-listers far and wide.

Matisyahu says Macklemore's new track isn't about freeing Palestine, as Mack claims -- instead, it only sows deeper discord by pushing what he sees as antisemitic tropes.

We caught up with the Jewish singer-songwriter in L.A., and he tells TMZ he's heard Macklemore's song, "Hind's Hall" -- and, quite frankly he thinks it'll keep people in conflict because of its inflammatory lyrics.

7:58 AM PT -- Kim Kardashian's full remarks on this topic are more nuanced than this clip suggests. She reportedly later said this ... "I sympathize with the people of Israel and with those in Palestine. I sympathize with everyone. All we want is for everyone to feel safe and free."

Kim added she has friends on both sides of this conflict, and that she talks to her kids about it too. Kim says she tells them, "Feel safe. And be good people and treat them with the same respectful way that you want to be treated. These are definitely scary times."

However, De Niro's rep has shut this notion down ... saying the footage was merely a rehearsal from his new Netflix show, "Zero Day." As it turns out, De Niro was actually just practicing scripted lines while rehearsing in front of a group of extras.

They also tore down tents in the area, which was littered with broken pieces of wood and damaged furniture.
