Israel Adesanya says he was not the aggressor during a recent confrontation with a man in New Zealand ... claiming the other guy started the whole incident by hurling a racial slur.

A source close to the UFC superstar tells TMZ Sports ... as Izzy was parking his car on a roadway in his home country, the guy came out of nowhere and started calling him the N-word.

Soon after, our source says the man challenged Adesanya to a fight.

An Indonesian grandmother has met a tragic end after being crushed to death by a 16-foot python that tried to swallow her whole.

According to reports, the woman, 57-year-old Hapsah, was attacked by the serpent last week while doing routine work on a plantation, where she tapped rubber trees, in Muaro Jambi, a province of Sumatra.

Hapsah reportedly tried to fight off the snake as it wrapped itself around her body ... but the python overpowered her, squeezing her unconscious from lack of oxygen.

The woman's husband, M Safri, who also worked on the plantation, realized something was wrong when she didn't come home in the afternoon. He began searching for his wife ... only to find the snake still wrapped around Hapsah's neck.

Per Sungai Gelam Police Chief Iptu Usaha Sitepu ... to prevent the snake from consuming his wife, M Safri pulled on the snake's tail and hit it until it eventually loosened its grip.

The incident left the whole community shaken ... as a mob of enraged locals soon formed -- who hunted down the python and beat it to death.

Village head Amdi added ... "It was massive. It was taken to the village to be shown to the community after it was killed."

Hapsah's body has since been returned home and is being prepared for a funeral.

This isn't the first fatal python attack in Indonesia this summer. Days before Hapsah's passing, another elderly woman from Palopo City was attacked and killed by a serpent in the Sumarambu mountains.

A driver near Toronto couldn't quite make a dramatic getaway from Canadian staple Tim Hortons Tuesday ... trying to take off after cops stopped him in the drive-thru, only to get stuck on top of a police car's hood ... and it's all caught on video.

The wild incident began at a Westwood Mall in Mississauga around 6:30 PM Tuesday night ... when police reportedly received a call about a driver in an allegedly stolen Ford Bronco pulling up to the coffee shop.

9:02 AM PT -- NASA released a statement on its findings regarding the strange sound heard by astronaut Butch Willmore, stating, "A pulsing sound from a speaker in Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft heard by NASA astronaut Butch Wilmore aboard the International Space Station has stopped. The feedback from the speaker was the result of an audio configuration between the space station and Starliner."

The statement continued, "The space station audio system is complex, allowing multiple spacecraft and modules to be interconnected, and it is common to experience noise and feedback. The crew is asked to contact mission control when they hear sounds originating in the comm system. The speaker feedback Wilmore reported has no technical impact to the crew, Starliner, or station operations, including Starliner’s uncrewed undocking from the station no earlier than Friday, Sept. 6."

As if being stranded in space for the foreseeable future wasn't enough ... one of the astronauts stuck aboard the ISS just sent NASA audio of an ominous noise coming from their faulty Boeing Starliner aircraft.

In audio first reported by Ars Technica, astronaut Butch Wilmore can be heard communicating with Johnson Space Center in Houston ... telling mission control, "I've got a question about Starliner. There's a strange noise coming through the speaker ... I don't know what's making it."

Mission control configured a way for Butch to play the sound through the phone ... and after one failed attempt at hearing it, mission control confirmed, "Butch, that one came through. It was kind of like a pulsating noise, almost like a sonar ping."
