Sean Avery

NHL Star Taunted Police

'FAT LITTLE PIGS'

8/5/2011 8:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Sean Avery
NHL
star Sean Avery challenged cops to a FIGHT when they responded to his Hollywood Hills home this morning ... calling them, "Fat little pigs" ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

We're told cops were dispatched to the home over a complaint about loud music -- and when they arrived to Avery's pad, the hockey star was NOT happy to see them.

Sources tell us 31-year-old Avery immediately began running his mouth at the cops -- telling them he would fight all of them ... even challenging them to, "Come back without your badges."

During the incident, Avery -- who famously dated Elisha Cuthbert a while back -- allegedly shoved an officer and slammed the front door on the cops.

We're told cops began speaking with Avery through the door -- and warned him that if he didn't open the door, they would break it down. That's when Avery decided to open up and cooperate.

As TMZ first reported, Avery was hauled to a nearby station and booked for battering a peace officer.  He has since been released after posting bail.

Her Imperial and Royal Majesty

He's violent enough to shove the police and slam the door in their faces --- but the worst insult he can come up with is "fat little pigs"? Something is out of kilter in this story. We´re not getting the full story.

The first rule in dealing with police the world over is to be polite and cooperative. You will never win with them in the moment. If they are truly harassing you take it up with higher ups after the incident is over.

That being said, it sounds like the cops in this case were just doing their jobs and Avery was being a jerk.

When the police show up at your front door on a
loud-music-call, it's because you've irritated NEIGHBORS.

Further irritating the police only makes your neighbors happy -

Because now a file-has-been-opened on an attitude.

It always amazes me when party-givers go OFF on arriving police - it's like hu.

They may have been fat little pigs. But they had badges and that makes a world of difference. Avery was too dumb and or crazy to figure that out.

I'm a lifelong NYR fan and I can't stand him. Wish he would get traded. Freakin' goon.

What a fool! Running your mouth is one thing but even touching a cop is plain stupid.

Should be a followup story, after avery assaults his neighbor for calling the cops.
Seriously, when you dial 911 in Hollywood, does it first route to the TMZ office?

When Avery first started out in the NHL, he was with the Detroit Red Wings. A friend of mine had a boy in the "pee wee" league and practiced at the same arena as the Wings. Whenever Avery was there, he was always really nice to the kids and parents, autographs and pictures with the kids. I wonder what happened between Detroit and now . . . something in the air????

Good thing he didn't challenge them to a hockey skills competition because he has none. Only the a team as sad as the NY Rangers would pay this douche to lace up the skates. Loser.
