Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis is stepping up to help a team staffer whose family lost everything in the wildfires ... by making a substantial financial contribution to kickstart the recovery process.

Longtime Lakers videographer Rohan Ali shared the tragic news this week ... saying his childhood home in Altadena, where his parents Gayle and Rasheed lived for more than three decades, was destroyed in the blaze -- and their valuables and keepsakes didn't survive.

Rohan launched a GoFundMe to help with food, housing, transportation and other costs as his family attempts to rebuild ... and on Thursday, AD did his part by donating $20,000 to the cause.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is shattered over the L.A. fires that destroyed his childhood home ... saying it's "unfathomable" to think the place that held so many memories is gone.

Kerr met with the media ahead of Thursday's matchup against the Detroit Pistons ... and addressed the earlier reports that his old home -- where his mother still resided -- did not survive the Pacific Palisades blaze.

Kerr said his mom, Ann, is safe ... and he's been in constant communication with his loved ones to make sure she continues to be OK.

Lakers vs. Hornets Postponed Due To L.A. Wildfires

Thursday's contest between the Lakers and Hornets has been postponed ... as firefighters continue to battle flames all across Los Angeles.

The league just made the decision to move the game minutes ago ... writing in a statement no makeup date has been scheduled just yet.

"The entire NBA family sends its thoughts and support to the community of Los Angeles during this challenging time," the league said. "We are grateful for the thousands of local firefighters and first responders who have demonstrated enormous bravery. Our prayers remain with those affected by the unimaginable devastation caused by the wildfires."

The 6'4", 200-pound forward was a star at the high school and collegiate level ... earning top accolades in the country at Linton in Schenectady, New York. During his senior season, he was teammates with legendary NBA coach, player and executive Pat Riley.

Kramer thrived at NYU -- where he had a career-best 29.3 points a game during his junior season in 1963.
