The Ohio lawyer convicted of attempted murder after he was caught on camera trying to shoot his ex-wife in a restaurant allegedly lied and said he was a police officer in order to secure a firearm ... TMZ has learned.

We obtained court docs filed by prosecutors in the case against Matthew Exton, which lay out a history of criminal issues.

In the docs, prosecutors point to a police report from 2024 when Matthew allegedly represented himself as a law enforcement official to buy a new firearm.

They also say there are voicemail messages he left in April 2024, threatening to kill the victims in this matter, a postcard sent to the victim, texts from him threatening to kill the victims, and a Ring camera video where they say he loses his "composure."

A juror on the Lindsay Clancy trial says he was disgusted when the lone holdout on the jury once mimicked how her kids were strangled.

Nick Dargie told ABC News that the one man who blocked the jury from reaching a unanimous verdict once took the exercise band used in the murders out of the bag, tied it around a water bottle, and pulled ... mimicking the way the children were allegedly killed.

Dargie said ... "I was shocked. It didn't make any sense to me. We're not here to play detective -- it's not a game of Clue. This is serious."

A murder suspect in Ohio tried to make it home safely while evading police ... but ended up crashing through the living room of a house instead ... and it's all on video.

A Massachusetts mom accused of murdering her two young children before fleeing to Vermont is asking the judge to release her from custody or dismiss her case.

Janette MacAusland's lawyer, Joseph Krowski, asked the judge to either let his client go or dismiss the case on Thursday ... as prosecutors in Vermont told the court they're still waiting for the official cause and manner of death from the medical examiner's office.

Krowski argued that there wasn't enough information to keep his client locked up ... but a judge shot him down and said she'll continue to be held without bail.

Lindsay Clancy is taking one more swing at avoiding a second trial ... asking a judge to find her not guilty after her murder case ended in a mistrial.

According to court docs, obtained by TMZ, Clancy's attorney Kevin Reddington is asking the judge to find her not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility ... arguing prosecutors didn't prove she was legally responsible and in her right mind when she killed her three children.

The filing notes 11 of the 12 jurors were prepared to find Clancy not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility before the jury deadlocked ... with one juror holding out.

One of the jurors in the Lindsay Clancy trial is speaking out about the lone holdout ... saying he didn't show "a single piece of evidence" to justify his vote.

Juror Nick Dargie told ABC News ... "There was several times I would ask him to show us evidence or, you know, describe a witness testimony that helped to prove what he was saying, and he couldn't."

Dargie explained ... "There wasn't a single piece of evidence or witness testimony that he used to prove why he was thinking the way he was, which is why we ultimately sent in that note."

The Hollywood Hills home owned by Quentin Tarantino was breached by a trespasser ... and whoever wanted to get inside tried to do so while other people were in the home.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... cops got a call Wednesday for a "hot prowl" at Quentin's residence -- police lingo for a burglary in progress with people inside.

Bryan Kohberger's family has his back as the convicted killer wages a legal battle to withdraw his guilty plea in a quadruple murder.

Kohberger's family attorney, Jason Goldman, tells TMZ ... Bryan has the support of several members of his family, including his parents and sisters, with whom he's been in contact from prison.

As you know, Kohberger cut a 2025 plea deal with prosecutors in which he copped to the murders of 4 University of Idaho students. In 2022, the killer broke into an off-campus home, where most of the victims lived, and fatally stabbed them as they slept in the wee hours. Because he confessed and agreed to a life sentence, prosecutors took the death penalty off the table.

A Pennsylvania mom got hammered and put her 5-month-old daughter in a hotel hot tub, where she drowned ... at least according to prosecutors.

25-year-old Diontae Nicole Beckett is charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of children in the May 11 death of her daughter, A'zara Beckett.

The child drowned at the Best Western Plus Intercourse Village Inn & Suites in Leacock Township.

TikToker Kirby Johnson's father Gordon Johnson became "verbally violent" during an altercation with his wife that landed him in jail ... at least according to cops, who say he told them it all started after his better half made fun of the way he was breathing.

According to the arrest report, obtained by TMZ, Gordon told cops his wife "got annoyed at the way he was breathing, started imitating him, and they argued back and forth."

Gordon denied making any threats to harm her, but his wife told cops he threatened her, saying "I'll f***ing kill you" after she says she learned of his infidelity ... this according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
