Mariano Rivera and his wife, Clara, are adamant they have never covered up child sexual abuse ... this after a new lawsuit alleged otherwise.

The New York Yankees legend and his partner issued the denial on Thursday morning ... with their attorney, Joseph A. Ruta, saying in a statement the allegations against the two "are completely false."

The suit was filed in New York earlier this month by Mother A Doe ... who alleged that back in 2018, her juvenile daughter was sexually abused at a summer camp in Florida that was affiliated with the Rivera's church, Refuge of Hope.

Legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker has died at 90, the Milwaukee Brewers announced Thursday morning.

Prior to his Hall of Fame career behind the microphone, Uecker -- born in Wisconsin in 1934 -- signed with his hometown Milwaukee Braves in 1956 ... before spending several seasons in the minor leagues.

Former MLB pitcher Brian Matusz has tragically died at 37 years old.

Matusz's team, the Baltimore Orioles, announced the heartbreaking news late Tuesday evening ... though a cause of death was not revealed.

Turns out, the ugly scene involving Mookie Betts and some overeager Yankees fans in Game 4 of the World Series could've been even worse ... 'cause the Dodgers superstar just revealed he considered retaliating against the NY backers with violence.

The L.A. outfielder opened on the matter with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson as part of the comedians' "Back That Year Up 2024" special ... and Betts told the guys he straight up considered hurling a baseball at the two men who tried to rip his glove away on a foul ball pop fly at Yankee Stadium back on Oct. 29.

"I was in the moment," Betts said. "I thought about throwing the ball at them."

Dave Stewart -- Rickey Henderson's former teammate and good friend -- is encouraging baseball fans everywhere to remember the outfielder in the wake of his death as a kind man who was "one of the five best players to ever play Major League Baseball."

Stewart sat down with TMZ Sports on Sunday -- just two days after Henderson passed away at 65 following a battle with pneumonia -- and he gushed over the Hall of Famer ... calling him "a tremendous human being."

Stewart says he first met Rickey when they were teenagers ... but formed a real bond with him when they turned pro.

Sources with direct knowledge tell us ... Henderson passed away Friday in the Oakland area, and had been getting treatment at a hospital for a brief period.

The MLB legend holds the record for stolen bases, and played left field for 9 teams from 1979 to 2003. Most of those years were spent with the Oakland A’s, where he debuted in the majors, but he also starred with the Yankees, Blue Jays, Mets, Padres and others ... before retiring with the Dodgers.
