The Indianapolis Colts and their newly acquired cornerback Sauce Gardner are trying to cheer up a young Jets fan after he saw his favorite player traded away ... with the org. and star DB hooking the kid up with some free swag!

Video of the young fan's reaction went viral on social media yesterday after dad told his boy New York had shipped Gardner out of town, and to the Colts, in exchange for two first-round draft picks.

As you could imagine, the news wasn't received well ... but don't worry, there's a happy ending here.

Two of Nick Mangold's old Jets teammates are urging voters to put the ex-center into the Hall of Fame following his tragic death.

Santonio Holmes and Leon Washington -- who both shared the gridiron with Mangold for several years in New York -- told TMZ Sports on Wednesday the former offensive lineman is as deserving as anyone when it comes to busts in Canton.

In fact, Holmes said Mangold should be in "without a doubt" -- while Washington added there's "no question."

The team announced the news Sunday, less than two weeks after Mangold publicly revealed he was battling a rare genetic disorder and had been placed on kidney dialysis.

Jets owner Woody Johnson honored Mangold in a statement, calling him "the heartbeat of our offensive line for a decade" and a "beloved teammate whose leadership and toughness defined an era of Jets football."

The seven-time Pro Bowler revealed on his Instagram page Tuesday he's been dealing with kidney issues for decades -- and "after a rough summer" this year, he's in search of an organ donor.
