The case of a New York City grandma who's been missing for two weeks in Las Vegas took a sad turn Thursday ... and TMZ is learning more about what happened to the 63-year-old.

Alisa Goods was visiting a friend in Sin City, and she left their home on August 8 to go shopping at CVS and vanished. Days after she disappeared, someone began messaging from her phone, asking her family for bitcoin. She was found dead Thursday near Harry Reid International Airport.

Las Vegas Metro PD tells TMZ ... surveillance from the airport shows a woman, believed to be Goods, falling down an embankment -- getting back up and then collapsing on August 8.

San Diego Prosecutor Found Dead Inside Federal Building ... After Being Reported Missing

A federal prosecutor in California was found dead inside an office this week -- and police are now investigating.

The San Diego PD tells TMZ ... Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Haden's body was discovered Wednesday inside an office at a federal building in San Diego, which is home to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California.

Cops say officers received a report of a man who possibly disappeared Wednesday evening, and then they responded to the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Building, where they found Haden's body.

Police said they do not suspect foul play ... but the medical examiner will determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Laken Snelling has pleaded guilty to a first-degree manslaughter charge for the August 2025 death of her infant son after previously entering a not guilty plea in April.

The former University of Kentucky student-athlete was emotional as she appeared before the judge Friday morning while explaining what led to her actions. She explained, “I was [under] a lot of stress, and my baby came unexpectedly, and instead of helping him I ended his life"

She admitted specifically to having "deprived him of oxygen" ... and then cleaning up the mess of the birth by throwing him and towels in a plastic bag, and not telling a single soul afterward.

Jason Arday Professor Who Accused Late Cambridge Academic of Plagiarism Suspended from University

The professor who accused former Cambridge academic Jason Arday of plagiarism before he quit his job and was found dead is now in hot water -- he’s been suspended from his job at a Belgian university.

Nathan Cofnas, a postdoctoral researcher for Ghent University, revealed the news Thursday on X ... adding he believes he will be fired.

In a separate tweet, he said he was under investigation by the university "for discriminating against Arday."

A Colorado man has been charged with murdering his wife after claiming she died by suicide when she was found dead in their bathroom.

Patrick Theodore Barnett was arrested by the Lakewood Police Department in Colorado days after his wife, Lindsey Barnett, was found dead in their bathtub with her throat slit, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.

In addition to the first-degree murder charge, he was also charged with tampering with a deceased human body and tampering with physical evidence, the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced. All three charges are felonies.

According to the affidavit, Patrick called 911 and told dispatchers Lindsey had "cut herself and her throat."

He claimed he found her after spending the night in the basement because they had a fight the previous night. He also reportedly told police his wife was suffering from postpartum depression.

Oklahoma Politician Barry Christian Was Intoxicated During Suicide

Oklahoma State Senate candidate Barry Christian was intoxicated when he died by suicide ... at least according to the medical examiner.

According to the autopsy report, obtained by TMZ, Christian had an approximately 0.14% BAC -- which is nearly double the legal blood alcohol concentration of limit .08%.

As we previously reported, Christian was found dead in April inside his 2024 Ram pickup truck at the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area in Beckham County, Oklahoma ... and the Oklahoma Chief Medical Examiner ruled his death a suicide.

The autopsy reveals he shot himself on the left side of the head, just above the ear.

In a statement Friday, Deborah Prentice, the Vice-Chancellor Professor at the University of Cambridge, confirmed Arday's death, saying "we are desperately saddened to hear this tragic news" and "our heartfelt sympathies go to Jason Arday’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."

The Metropolitan Police in London said officers responded to a man's home Friday afternoon after receiving a report that he was found unresponsive. Police declared the man dead at the scene and notified his next of kin without releasing Arday's name publicly.
