9:24 AM PT -- A spokesperson for the mayor tells TMZ … "There was a miscommunication. She has not taken that trip. When she takes that trip, it will be without any NYPD detail."
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani is not on the same page with the NYPD when it comes to a security detail for his wife during her upcoming Middle East trip ... because it's NOT happening.
Mamdani's wife, Rama Duwaji, wanted cops to escort her around Syria and Lebanon next month, but an NYPD spokesperson tells TMZ ... "The NYPD does not send officers to countries with level four travel advisories for discretionary reasons not linked to investigative work."
That sounds like news to Mamdani ... because on Monday his office told the New York Post, "Upon the strong recommendation of the NYPD, the First Lady's security detail will be joining her when she travels to visit family in Syria and Lebanon."
The couple shared videos from their New Zealand getaway over the weekend -- showing them strapped together for a tandem bungee jump before dropping off the edge of a towering cliff.
The heart-pounding clip captures the pair smiling and laughing as they prepare for the plunge, then making their way through the free fall before bouncing high above the canyon below.
Scooter even posted a selfie shot version where viewers could take the ride along with him ... giving fans a Sydney Sweeney POV experience.
It's the latest sign things are getting serious between the actress and the music mogul, who have been spending plenty of time together in recent months.
Their New Zealand adventure has included everything from sightseeing to adrenaline-fueled excursions, but this may be the biggest leap yet as the couple seemingly starts to strengthen their relationship.
Sydney took to Scooter's comment section and said "biggest trust fall ever." If jumping off a cliff while tethered to each other isn't a trust exercise, we don't know what is.

The agent, who was not identified, was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal review by federal investigators into the suspected leak to MS NOW correspondents, according to CNN.
The internal probe stems from the agent allegedly passing information to MS NOW for a July 15 story about members of Vance's security detail being pissed off that they have to provide coverage for the Veep's personal travel schedule, calling it a burden.
