A disturbed passenger on a United Airlines flight caused one helluva scene, prompting the captain to divert the plane and land in Tokyo for safety reasons, according to an eyewitness.

The bizarre incident occurred on a UA commercial jet heading to San Francisco from Shanghai, China, on Wednesday afternoon, the witness wrote in a post on Reddit. 

According to the witness's account ... after takeoff, a passenger was getting unruly ... before beefing with crew members on the plane.

A pilot reportedly suffered a medical emergency during an Air Canada flight, and passengers jumped in to help restrain him after the aircraft took a sharp turn.

The frightening incident occurred Wednesday on an Air Canada flight from Newark, New Jersey to Halifax, Nova Scotia, after the pilot experienced what some passengers thought was a seizure that lasted about 40 minutes, according to ABC News.  

The first officer reportedly took command of the fight, diverting the plane to Boston, where it touched down safely. After landing, the captain was rushed to a hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.

A private jet carrying six passengers crashed Tuesday night on a highway in Texas, killing one person and triggering a massive rescue operation, according to police.

The fiery disaster was captured through multiple videos ... including one showing the plane slamming down on a highway.

As seen in one of the angles captured via dashcam ... a car is driving down the highway in Laredo while filming the plane flying low in the near distance. It's a bit hard to see at first, but suddenly, the plane drops down from the sky and crashes on the other side of the highway with what appears to be flames shooting up.

Missing Auburn Student Found Dead In Japan After Vanishing On Family Trip

An Auburn University junior who disappeared while traveling with family in Japan has been found dead ... bringing a devastating end to a week-long search effort.

James "Weston" Higginbotham -- a 20-year-old biosystems engineering student -- was found by a volunteer search-and-rescue group in a mountainous area outside Kyoto, according to a Facebook post by his parents Saturday.

"Our family is heartbroken to share that Weston was found deceased," they wrote ... adding, "The grief we feel is impossible to put into words."

United Airlines Flight Diverted Due to Hijack Attempt Passenger Detained

A United Airlines flight bound for Minneapolis was diverted and forced to make an emergency landing after a disruptive passenger allegedly attempted to gain access to the cockpit.

According to reports, the passenger repeatedly tried to enter the flight deck, prompting the crew to divert the aircraft to Dane County Regional Airport in Wisconsin at approximately 9:30 PM.

In audio recordings -- obtained by 12 News Investigates -- authorities are heard eventually being able to restrain the individual after several attempts to breach the cockpit area ... with an official reportedly saying over radio comms, "Don’t think they were able to cuff him but were able to get control of him after multiple attempts to try to breach the cockpit."

Horrified passengers in Mexico got a light show they were not banking on, when a thunderbolt hit the wing of their jet.

Viva Airlines was en route to Mexico City when lightning hit the left wing ... a blinding flash of light followed.

The heat was so intense from the strike, a portion of the wing was glowing in the aftermath.

Croatia Airlines Jet Skids Off Runway in Aborted Takeoff

A Croatia Airlines jet skidded off the runway and smashed into some signage and lighting during an aborted takeoff ... and it's all on video.

Terrifying footage shows the Croatia Airlines flight speeding down the runway at Split Airport in Croatia when all of a sudden the plane starts veering to its left ... the jet goes onto the grass and smashes through runway lights and a runway marker before coming to a screeching halt.

It all went down Saturday ... the flight had over 130 passengers and crew on board ... and they were trying to fly from Croatia's Adriatic coast to Frankfurt, Germany.

There's also video from inside the plane ... from one passenger who was recording from the window seat. There's rain on the window, but it's unclear if weather conditions played a factor here.

Croatia Airlines says no one was injured.

Croatia’s Air, Maritime and Railway Accident Investigation Agency says it's launching an investigation ... and the plane, an Airbus A220-300, suffered minor damage.

Carnival Cruise Tragedy Passenger Jumps Overboard, Dies

A passenger has died after jumping overboard from a Carnival cruise ship near the Bahamas ... TMZ has learned.

Sources on board the cruise tell TMZ ... the man went into the water from the Carnival Liberty as it traveled just outside Nassau Tuesday. We're from someone on board that a life ring was thrown to the passenger, but he was soon out of sight, prompting an immediate search and rescue effort.

A Carnival spokesperson tells TMZ ... the guest climbed over his stateroom balcony and went overboard while the ship was sailing from Celebration Key to Nassau. Crew members immediately launched a search and were able to recover him from the water, but he did not survive.

The cruise line says it is now supporting the guest's family, who were traveling with him.

Hantavirus-Infected Cruise American Passengers Return 1 Tests Positive, 1 Shows Symptoms

Seventeen American passengers from the cruise ship at the center of the deadly hantavirus outbreak are officially back in the U.S. ... and one of them has already tested positive, and another is showing symptoms.

Health officials say the passengers were pulled from the infected ship MV Hondius and flown to the U.S., where they're now being checked out in highly specialized quarantine units.

Two of the evacuees were transported in full-on biocontainment pods to stop any spread of the virus ... making this the moment the outbreak officially hit U.S. soil. The Department of Health & Human Services says one person tested positive but was showing no symptoms, while the other was experiencing mild symptoms. Further clinical assessment was ongoing, the department said.

The altercation went down last week in London and was caught on video by a witness, The Telegraph reports.

Hantavirus-Infected Cruise Passengers Screened After Deadly Outbreak 17 Americans Confirmed

A cruise ship tied to a deadly Hantavirus scare pulled into Tenerife on Sunday morning ... with shaken passengers hauling their belongings in plastic bags as they evacuated the vessel.

At the Granadilla Port in Spain’s Canary Islands, Spanish health officials began screening travelers for symptoms before allowing anyone to leave the ship, according to Reuters.

Once cleared, passengers were ferried ashore in small groups and are expected to be taken to the island’s main airport for flights back to their home countries -- 17 Americans are reportedly onboard the ship.

Three patients have been evacuated from the cruise ship at the center of the deadly hantavirus outbreak, with 8 potential cases in total now being reported by the World Health Organization (WHO).

WHO announced early Wednesday morning three suspected hantavirus case patients were evacuated from Oceanwide Expeditions' MV Hondius cruise ship to receive medical care in the Netherlands. This comes after a local leader opposed allowing the ship to dock in the Canary Islands, which is run by Spain.

Swiss authorities confirmed a case in one passenger from the MV Hondius cruise ship after he responded to an email from the ship’s operator and went to a hospital in Zurich, where he began treatment, according to WHO.
