Mary Lou Retton is speaking out for the first time since her DUI arrest last month, issuing a heartfelt apology and vowing to make meaningful changes in her life.

In a statement shared on Tuesday, the former Olympic gymnast says, "I take full responsibility for my actions. What happened was completely unacceptable. I make no excuses. To my family, friends and my fans: I have let you down, and for that I am deeply sorry."

The 57-year-old went on to say she's "determined to learn and grow from this experience, and I am committed to making positive changes in my life."

Mary Lou Retton's attorney is adamant the Olympic legend has not vanished following her DWI arrest last month ... in fact, the lawyer is adamant she's currently "in good spirits."

Edmund J. Rollo released a statement to TMZ Sports on Tuesday, insisting the Daily Mail's report that Retton's family had not "seen or heard from her" since her mid-May arrest was "grossly inaccurate."

"This report did not originate from Mary Lou's family, as the article stated," said Rollo, who was hired by Retton after prosecutors levied the misdemeanor DWI charge on her on May 17.

Gina LaPlaca -- the mayor of Lumberton Township -- was pulled over on St. Patrick's Day ... and, when she gets out of the car, she takes her son out of the car while officers pepper her with questions. She tells police she just came from picking her son up from school.

Check out the clip ... they ask about her front passenger-side-view mirror -- which has been basically smashed to bits -- and, they tell her they got lots of calls about her driving erratically. WPVI-TV was first to report the story and air the video.

Marcus Jordan is now admitting he has a substance abuse problem ... weeks after he was arrested for possession of ketamine and driving under the influence.

In a new court filing, obtained by TMZ Sports, Jordan and his attorneys revealed the 34-year-old has been dealing with "challenges" related to his "alcohol/substance use" ... and now, he wants a judge to order him to complete a Pre-Trial Substance Abuse Education and Treatment Intervention Program in an effort to help him with these issues.

Jordan's attorneys argued the program would "not only benefit him personally but also serve the community by reducing the likelihood of future offenses." They added in the documents that Michael's son "is amenable to treatment."

Cops in Florida say a man stole an ambulance and led law enforcement on a wild car chase through the streets of Tampa ... finishing a can of beer before being dragged out of the driver's seat and thrown in handcuffs ... and it's all on video.

TMZ obtained dashcam footage from Saturday's police pursuit ... and it shows Florida Highway Patrol Troopers pursuing the ambulance as the emergency vehicle runs stop signs, swerves through traffic, drives on the wrong side of the road and nearly crashes into motorists.
