Britney Spears is set to have a hands-on role in the making of the biopic based on her best-selling memoir, "The Woman In Me" ... director Jon M. Chu has revealed.

The filmmaker, who recently broke box office records with his musical movie "Wicked," issued the update at the 2025 Golden Globes ... where he confirmed production on the Brit-centric pic is in its early days -- and assured fans that he has a vision of how he wants to approach things.

As Jon told Entertainment Tonight, Britney intends to be "very involved" with the film.

She explained the Willis family had recently spent the New Year with actress Elle Fanning, which is why DM hugged her instead of KJ.

She added ... "Had she seen KJ wanting to congratulate her she would have fully given her the time and space. Literally just give it all a break and let a gal enjoy her accomplishment."

Kylie Jenner didn't seem to have "The Substance" to warrant a hug from Demi Moore after the actress shocked audiences with a big Golden Globes win Sunday night.

According to Sandell, Jake just finished an 18-month stint in a mental health rehab faciliy after having a "psychotic break" in March 2023 ... during which his mom says he turned off the engine of his car while driving down a three-lane highway.
