Bobby Flay is paying homage to fellow celebrity chef Anne Burrell following her sudden passing earlier this week.

Flay took to Instagram to remember his colleague, saying, "'Worst Cooks in America’ was the funnest show on TV. All of your co-hosts (me included) were just alongside for the Anne Burrell ride."

He shared a photo of Burrell holding two Maine Coon cats and went on to say ... "The greatest gift I got from AB was turning me on to a world of Maine Coon Cats (including Nacho) ... a gift that I'll have forever." For context, Nacho is Flay's cat.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Burrell's husband, Stuart Claxton, found her unconscious in the bathroom early Tuesday morning.

We're told Claxton last saw her alive around 1 AM the night before ... then found her between six and seven hours later in the shower. He then called 911.

In her most recent post on Instagram, Anne is grinning wide in a selfie with the Green Lady of Brooklyn.

Anne captioned the post ... "I ran into @greenladyofbrooklyn in my neighborhood today!! I'm not going to lie -- I have been keeping an eye out for her. I may or may not have followed her down the street for a minute. She is just lovely!!!"

6:10 PM PT -- A rep for the NYC Fire Department tells TMZ ... the 911 caller reported that Anne went into cardiac arrest.

"Food Network" celebrity chef Anne Burrell has died in NYC ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... EMS personnel received a call of a woman in need of assistance Tuesday morning after Burrell was found unresponsive inside her Brooklyn home.

Paramedics were unable to revive Burrell and declared her dead. The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine her cause of death.

The comedian went off on "TMZ Live" Tuesday, speaking about escalating protests in L.A. against ICE raids targeting undocumented immigrants, and city-imposed curfews as a result -- and he makes it crystal clear ... civil disobedience is sometimes the only reason we have certain freedoms that we do, and sometimes the only way to fix a broken system is to disrupt it.

D.L. also took aim at the heavy military presence in L.A. right now -- pointing out there are currently more personnel stationed in Home Depot parking lots than in Afghanistan ... so if they’re bringing that kind of force, they should expect a response just as strong.
