The talks surrounding Paramount's anti-trust case are splitting state officials at the bargaining table into two factions -- deal and no deal.

The studio is trying to settle the case brought against the entertainment giant by 12 states as it tries to push forward its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Now, a new report claims there's no consensus among the states involved.

Despite many in the entertainment industry -- including Mark Ruffalo -- urging California AG Rob Bonta not to reach a settlement over the merger, Bonta is apparently trying to push the deal through ... this according to CNN.

A Carnival Cruise ship made a U-turn to search for a man who jumped overboard into the waters off Mexico ... and one of the passengers taking the trip told TMZ all about the tragic event.

The search began on Saturday morning as the ship was heading along the coast of Mexico's Baja peninsula.

A rep for Carnival tells TMZ ... "Carnival Cruise Line confirmed Saturday that a male guest aboard Carnival Panorama jumped overboard while the ship was sailing from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to Long Beach, California."

The man who Carrot Top's legal team claims tried to extort the comedian with a sexually explicit recording is speaking out ... and he claims he never threatened to release the video ahead of his suicide attempt.

In response to the Sept. 3 filing ... Brian Evans tells TMZ ... that the USB drive recording the lawsuit mentions had already been deleted.

He tells TMZ ... "I never threatened - ever - to post any video anywhere in exchange for a settlement. … The video they are discussing - as I made very clear - was deleted a long time ago in accordance with the prior settlement."

ICE agents have shot and injured a man in Austin, Texas ... and investigators are being tight lipped about the altercation.

Sunday afternoon, a man -- whose name, age, and race have not been revealed -- was shot, injured, and transported to a local hospital, this according to a press conference given by Austin officials.

City officials made it clear that the Austin Police Department was not involved in the incident -- and Mayor Kirk Watson also emphasized that he is "not happy at all" about the fact that there was a shooting involving someone who "purports to be law enforcement."

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang claims there's absolutely no chance A.I. will end the world in technology-induced apocalypse ... well, at least not in the next 4 years.

Jensen told CBS Sunday Morning that "scaring people" about the speculative dangers of A.I. in the wake of several prominent figures in the industry going public with their doomsday concerns is "unnecessary" and "irresponsible."

Jensen told CBS ... "2030 is not going to be the end of the world. There is 0% chance that's going to be the end of the world."

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and President Donald Trump will be crossing the political aisle tomorrow ... and meeting up for their third in-person meeting.

The meeting is set to go down in Zohran's residence, Gracie Mansion, ahead of the U.N. General Assembly ... this according to CNN.

Apparently president and mayor's sit-down will "focus on issues affecting New York City and New Yorkers" ... Zohran's spokesperson said.

Influencer star Ash Trevino has filed a lawsuit against a woman she says called her probation officer in the hopes that the influencer would get a violation of her supervised release ... before posting the whole recorded call on her TikTok.

In a Sept. 17 filing ... Ash's legal team claimed that Raelene Ortega called her probation officer ... and alleged that the influencer was "making threats" and using "racial slurs" online against a restaurant she claimed Trevino had publicly criticized.

When the officer told her she could report any illegal activities to the police, the filing -- which lists Stephanie Lama as a co-defendant -- claims Raelene said ... "OK, but, that's no[t] like violation of her, of her probation?"

Ed Sheeran revealed that he had to drastically alter his stage performance for his Philadelphia concert ... and it was all because he was worried fans might pelt him mid-show!

Hayden Panettiere was remembered Saturday during a special celebration of life ceremony by some of her closest Hollywood friends -- and we're told the memorial was "emotional and beautiful."

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Evan Ross, Connie Britton, Charles Esten, Lennon Stella and Jonathan Jackson were among the 150 or so guests on hand to honor the late actress at the church memorial in Malibu, California.

As everyone knows ... Hayden died August 16 after she was found unresponsive inside a Greenville, South Carolina, Airbnb. TMZ broke the story ... law enforcement sources believe Hayden died after taking a black-market oxycodone pill laced with fentanyl.
