James Franco made a rare public appearance, popping up in Hollywood for his new play -- "Desert Films" -- and his fans hardly knew what to do!

The experimental stage project explores the idea of fame by blending true crime, noir, film, and live performance. Sounds pretty ambitious, but it looks like it was worth the effort.

In an Instagram post, one theatergoer called the production "brilliant," writing ... "Major props to James Franco for pulling back the curtain on Hollywood and Film & TV with honesty and edge through LIVE theatre. Here’s hoping 'Desert Films' has many more runs ahead."

Nancy Grace says the double homicides of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner are a textbook example of a case that calls for the death penalty ... and that could be bad news for alleged murderer Nick Reiner.

Nancy tells TMZ ... this case is the classic example of when capital punishment should be applied, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman mentioned the death penalty in a recent press conference, so it's being talked about among prosecutors ... but as Nancy explains, a final decision on capital punishment goes way beyond the D.A. office.

Most of the cast was at the "Stranger Things: The Final Season Celebration" at New York City's Paley Center Thursday ... but David and Millie were nowhere to be found.

Terence Crawford hasn't been retired for a full week, but he's already got another fight on his hands -- albeit a legal one -- 'cause the legendary boxer has been sued by a prominent jeweler who claims Bud lied to him and screwed him over.

In the lawsuit, filed on December 18 and obtained by TMZ Sports, 38-year-old Crawford is accused of hitting up Mazza New York in February 2024 for several custom pendants for him and his team (we previously reported when Bud copped 'em).

According to Mazza, Crawford became interested in a $139k Patek Philippe Aquanaut watch while in the store, but rather than buying it flat out, Mazza claims Bud suggested he pay $35k, and then would cover the rest by promoting the jewelry store on his trunks during a fight.

Mazza says he agreed, however, when Crawford's August 2024 fight against Israil Madrimov rolled around, the jeweler claims the logo "had completely fallen off" by the 4th round.

Riley Keough was snapped out and about for the first time since a bombshell lawsuit allegation claiming she's the biological mother to John Travolta's youngest son ... and TMZ has the shots.

It's unclear whether Lisa Marie's eggs ever produced a child.

However, Kruse claims a deal was orchestrated where Riley -- one of Lisa Marie's daughters -- gave her eggs to Travolta, so that Kelly could give birth to Ben, who is 15 now. Kruse claims Riley was given an old Jaguar and paid between $10,000 - $20,000 for the deal.

David Harbour was captured on video doing some "Stranger Things" in Encinitas, California over the weekend ... the actor appeared to take a man's hat and make a run for it.

The head-scratching incident appears to have gone down Saturday at a gastropub called Encinitas Ale House.

Here's what the video -- which we were only permitted to view -- shows ... David enters the joint and then -- a short time later -- runs outside, carrying a white cap in his hand. He then looks over his shoulder, yelling, "C'mon, dude, f****** get me."

Former Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell is revisiting that wild onstage brawl at the band’s Massachusetts concert last year ... and he's saying he's sorry, admitting he should’ve handled himself way better.

Perry released a full statement addressing Boston -- where the brawl went down in September 2024 -- and the rest of the world, making it clear he’s remorseful about losing his temper and blowing up the show.

He explained Jane’s Addiction has been the center of his life for decades -- adding that the band, the music, the fans, and their impact on culture mean more to him than he could ever put into words.

He says his goal has always been to give fans the best show possible, but admits they missed the mark in Boston ... adding he’s truly sorry to everyone impacted.
