Drew Pearson knows losing Micah Parsons is going to hurt his beloved Cowboys ... but he's heaping praise on Jerry Jones for having the stomach to get the big "distraction" off his squad.
The legendary wideout sat down with TMZ Sports less than 24 hours after Dallas punted Parsons to Green Bay ... and unlike most of Cowboys Nation, he opted to take a more positive look at the blockbuster Thursday trade.
He told us he's sure his 'Boys will be able to better focus on the season opener with the Philadelphia Eagles now that Parsons and his public contract negotiations are out of the picture.

Jerry Jones just revealed he was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma over a decade and a half ago ... but he beat it with the help of an experimental drug.
The Cowboys owner opened up on the medical issue with The Dallas Morning News this week ... explaining to the paper that doctors first told him he had cancer back in June 2010.
Jones told the outlet he immediately turned to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for treatment ... and a short time later, he began PD-1 therapy to get healthy.

Micah Parsons' time with the Cowboys could be done ... the star NFL pass rusher announced he requested a trade out of Dallas, citing Jerry Jones and the organization's unwillingness to negotiate a new contract.
The four-time Pro Bowler dropped a three-page statement on social media, explaining that he initially wanted to remain in Big D, but changed his mind after his agent attempted to discuss a long-term deal with the team on multiple occasions.
Parsons said the team was "radio silent."

Dallas Cowboys star KaVontae Turpin was allegedly hitting speeds near 100 MPH with a gun in his backseat before he was arrested over the weekend, TMZ Sports has learned.
According to an Allen Police Department incident report we obtained, Turpin was pulled over at around 11:49 PM on Saturday in Texas after cops say they clocked him going 97 MPH in a 70 MPH zone in his 2022 Dodge.
During the traffic stop, authorities claim an unholstered 9MM pistol was seen "in plain view" in the back of the wide receiver's ride. Less than two ounces of weed, cops added, were later found in the car's center console.

KaVontae Turpin -- a three-year NFL veteran -- was arrested this weekend for marijuana possession and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver was booked into the Collin County jail Saturday after he was arrested for the two misdemeanors in Allen, Texas.
