Just hours after TMZ's documentary on Wendy Williams dropped on Tubi, the wheels started turning to end her guardianship.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... Wendy signed an affidavit Wednesday afternoon asking the judge to set her free. According to the affidavit, Wendy says she has "regained capacity" to function without a guardian.

Wendy also says in the affidavit ... she does NOT have Frontotemporal Dementia, despite what doctors had claimed. In our Tubi documentary -- "TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy" -- we explain Frontotemporal Dementia never gets better, and anyone who watches knows ... Wendy is much better than she was 2 years ago.

Vince Neil's birthday party in Florida may have been a lifesaver ... because it's the reason the Mötley Crüe frontman wasn't onboard a doomed private jet flight that killed his longtime pilot.

She says her guardianship was launched after her bank, Wells Fargo, noticed a number of hefty unauthorized withdrawals were being made. Wendy believes Kevin and others were behind it. Kevin has said he did nothing wrong.

Two-time Super Bowl champion Kadarius Toney was arrested last week over allegations he strangled a woman, TMZ Sports has learned.

According to police documents we obtained, the former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver was accused of putting his hand around a woman's throat during a dispute at a Georgia residence on Jan. 14 ... and squeezing "with enough force to cause her to be unable to breath."

The docs state the alleged attack left the woman with red marks on her neck ... and petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes.

Wendy cannot leave the floor without permission from the staff. She says she's been outside in the fresh air twice in the last 30 days ... both times for dentist appointments.
