7:01 PM PT -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD tells TMZ that the delivery driver in question did in fact claim self-defense on this matter ... and it sounds like the cops are letting it be.

They say, "The investigation revealed that a delivery driver arrived at the residence to deliver consumable goods. The driver told officers that a dog attacked him while he was at the residence and that he defended himself by firing a single gunshot, striking and mortally wounding the dog. Another dog was present at the residence but did not attack."

They go on to say that no criminal charges have been filed over this, and that CMPD's Animal Control got in the mix as well. They're not seeking out any other parties either.

The "Beverly Hills, 90210" star called Dean on her "misSPELLING" podcast, and everyone could hear her end of the convo. She says he was working when she hit him up, and dropped the news she had filed. She kinda minimized it at first, saying the filing was just a formality, but then it got real.

Tori said it was only right she file first because he talked about sex and other intimate details in their marriage to the Daily Mail. It's clear she was angry he had done it, and -- although you only hear her end of the conversation -- it seems Dean wasn't happy she beat him to the courthouse punch.

"Boardwalk Empire" star Michael Stuhlbarg was attacked by a homeless man with a rock, TMZ has confirmed.

Law enforcement sources tell us the actor was out jogging in Manhattan on Sunday around 7:45 PM when he suddenly felt something strike the back of his head.

We're told when he looked down, he noticed a rock lying beside him. Despite the shock, our sources say Michael wasted no time chasing the perpetrator down the street ... that is, until authorities arrived at the scene and were able to handle the rest.

Chance Perdomo -- famous from Amazon's "Gen V" and the Netflix 'Sabrina' show -- has died suddenly in a motorcycle accident.

According to The Wrap, citing the actor's reps, Chance died in a wreck that no one else was harmed in -- they don't provide any other details, including where this happened, when, or under what exact circumstances.

Nonetheless, his team says ... "His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother."
