A friend of Billy Joe Cagle -- the man arrested Monday at Atlanta's major airport for allegedly threatening a mass shooting -- is now talking to TMZ ... revealing the red flags that pushed him to reach out the night before cops swooped in.
Nick Roberts joined us on "TMZ Live" Tuesday ... telling us he hit up Billy on Sunday night after spotting some troubling Facebook posts ... ones that, at first, looked more like warnings of self-harm than threats against others.
Nick said during that chat the 49-year-old seemed totally fine, giving off no sign he was plotting anything for the next day. Cops, though, were tipped off by Cagle's family’s concerns ... and thankfully, any potential tragedy was avoided.
Secret Service Investigating Hunting Stand with FBI ... Aimed Toward Air Force One Parking
The United States Secret Service is looking into a hunting stand found in Florida which they say had a direct sightline to where Air Force One could park.
The law enforcement agency revealed Sunday they found the stand near Palm Beach International Airport last week ... releasing a photo of the structure set up in a tree.
In a statement released to media, the U.S. Secret Service Chief of Communications, Anthony Guglielmi said, "During advance security preparations prior to the Palm Beach arrival, which included the use of technology and comprehensive physical sweeps, our teams identified items of interest near Palm Beach International Airport."

Big 12 Fines Kansas Over Wild Knife Incident
The Big 12 has issued a penalty on the University of Kansas after an investigation into Saturday's weird pocket knife controversy ... with the conference announcing video evidence paints a different picture than what the Jayhawks coach claimed after the game.
ICYMI, Lance Leipold stated after his Jayhawks lost in a blowout to the Red Raiders that a sharp object hit one of his staff members while standing on the away team sideline.

TMZ Sports obtained surveillance videos tracking the ex-NFL star -- from 12:05 AM, when the alleged victim, Perry Tole, pulled up in his service truck ... to 12:30 AM, when Sanchez fled the scene, bloodied from stab wounds.
When Tole arrives, you see him drive south down the alley ... where, apparently, Sanchez was already on the move. When Tole parks, he's out of camera view, so we don't know if they see each other, but 7 minutes later, Sanchez walks north out of the alley ... stumbling a bit.

Intense police body camera footage shows the moment cops in Michigan took out the gunman who shot up a Mormon church ... and there's a hail of bullets.
The Grand Blanc Township Police Department just released the dramatic footage, and you hear cops shouting at the gunman to drop his weapon.
Officers are heard yelling "shoot him," "get on the ground," and "drop the gun now" before gunshots ring out. Cops armed with assault rifles were making their way through the church parking lot when they neutralized the shooter.
Alabama Mass Shooting 2 Dead, 14 Injured
A night of celebration turned tragic in Alabama, after a mass shooting left at least two people dead and 14 others injured ... including two children, one critically.
According to Montgomery Police, gunfire erupted around 11:30 PM as crowds gathered during one of the city's busiest nights ... with a fair, other attractions, and a football game between Tuskegee University and Morehouse College all happening nearby.
According to reports, the chaos started when a fight broke out between two groups and quickly escalated into a running gun battle through the packed streets. Law enforcement says there were two parties involved that were shooting at each other in the middle of a crowd.

The suspected gunman who killed 3 people and left 5 injured after he shot up a waterfront bar and restaurant in North Carolina Saturday night appears to have scoped the site out the night before the attack ... and there's video evidence.
Check out the clip ... an eyewitness tells TMZ the accused killer Nigel Edge can be seen floating about 20 yards away from the American Fish Company in Southport, located on the Cape Fear River.
A person -- apparently Edge -- is behind the wheel of a white center console motorboat with the phrase "Game On" emblazoned on the side. The whole vessel is dark aside from the navigational lights on the bow. Something spooks him ... and he ducks down and slowly heads out of the area.

The man arrested for allegedly shooting 3 people dead in a bizarre boat attack in North Carolina Saturday night sued Kellie Pickler, claiming she tried to poison him, earlier this year -- over a decade after he was her date to the CMT Music Awards.
Once you soak that in ... let us explain. Nigel Edge, a Brunswick County resident, has been accused of shooting down 3 people and injuring 8 others at the American Fish Company saloon in Southport, North Carolina Saturday night.
In February, the same man accused Pickler of trying to take his life by poisoning him the same night they attended the CMTs together in 2012, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. He even includes a photo of the pair at the event -- notably, he calls it the CMA Awards, but the photo shows them at the CMTs.

1:25 PM PT -- DHS later announced a correction ... only one victim, a detainee, died, NBC 5 Dallas reports. The other two victims were listed in critical condition.
11:51 AM PT -- The suspect accused of opening fire at the ICE facility in Dallas has been identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, according to multiple law enforcement officials, Fox News reports.
10:20 AM PT -- DHS confirms 2 of the victims have died, and the third is listed in critical condition, according to The AP. All were detainees, DHS said.
8:40 AM PT -- During a press conference Texas senator Ted Cruz called for an end to political violence.
A gunman who shot up a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Dallas Wednesday morning has been confirmed dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Kash Patel posted the alleged unspent bullet casings on X saying, "While the investigation is ongoing, an initial review of the evidence shows an idealogical [sic] motive behind this attack. One of the unspent shell casings recovered was engraved with the phrase “ANTI ICE.”
Dallas police tell TMZ they received a call reporting an individual opened fire on the Texas facility around 6:40 AM ... and the preliminary investigation revealed 2 people were transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds, and 1 victim died at the scene.

New Hampshire Wedding Suspect and Victim Identified in Deadly Shooting
Cops have identified the suspect and victim in the deadly shooting that rocked a New Hampshire country club over the weekend.
Cops say 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau stormed into the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua late Saturday night and opened fire, killing 59-year-old Steven DeCesare and injuring two other people.
According to the New Hampshire Attorney General and Nashua Police Chief, Nadeau has been hit with a second-degree murder charge and is expected to face additional counts.
New Hampshire Wedding Mass Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, Multiple Injured
Gunfire turned a New Hampshire wedding into chaos this weekend ... leaving one man dead and several others injured, and guests fleeing for safety.
The mass shooting went down around 9:30 PM Saturday night at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, where a wedding celebration was underway. Police say a 59-year-old man was killed, while two others suffered gunshot wounds. Cops say several more guests sustained non-gun related injuries while scrambling to escape the mayhem.
Witnesses described panic erupting as shots rang out inside the venue. At first, cops feared there were multiple shooters, but after reviewing surveillance footage, they confirmed there was only one suspect. The gunman was quickly taken into custody, and officers stressed the public was no longer in danger.
ABC Bullets Rip Through Local News Station In Sacramento
Three bullets pierced through a local ABC news station in California's capital ... and people were inside working when the shooter opened fire.
Cops in Sacramento say someone shot up the ABC10 news station downtown Friday afternoon ... with police responding to reports of shots being fired just after 1:30 PM ... and footage shows three bullet holes in one of the building's windows.
