The Eagles' Don Henley wants a federal judge to declare him the official owner of his own handwritten lyric sheets from his band's classic "Hotel California" album.

TMZ obtained the docs ... Don filed his lawsuit to get the lyrics back in his possession after they were seized during a criminal investigation into 2 men -- Edward Kosinski and Craig Inciardi -- who tried to sell them at an auction.

Don reminds the judge of his legal woes in the matter ... emphasizing the papers documented his creative process in developing the songs for The Eagles' iconic 1976 album.

Crazy Town's frontman Shifty Shellshock died from an accidental drug overdose after mixing prescription drugs with street-purchased drugs ... his manager has confirmed.

Howie Hubberman explained the singer -- real name was Seth Binzer -- really wanted to turn things around ... but unfortunately, no one had the tools to help him with his addiction battle -- including himself.

Howie added to PEOPLE, "Seth Binzer, after struggling with addiction and Crazy Town's rapid success with 'Butterfly,' never was able to reach out on a more successful level to deal with his addictions. We all tried, but ultimately we all failed, or Shifty would still be here."

Seth Binzer -- the lead singer and co-founder of the rap rock band Crazy Town -- has died.

Better known by his stage name Shifty Shellshock, Binzer passed away Monday at a residence in L.A., according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.

In 1999, Binzer and fellow vocalist, Bret "Epic" Mazur, formed Crazy Town, hiring Rust Epique, Doug Miller, James Bradley Jr., Antonio Lorenzo Valli and Adam Goldstein.
